Recently I installed and uninstalled a few Cydia apps have have sense had some difficultly. I believe it was the recently release Advanced Preferences that did me in... I have a 3Gs with 3.1.2 jailbroken with Blackra1n.

When I reboot the phone I don't see my lockscreen and springboard loads up. When I try to open any app, except one, they all blink like they are going to open but don't. The notable exception is the phone and when I close the phone the lockscreen then shows. Seemed weird but I turned on the syslog SBsettings add-on and I see the messages below after reboot when attempting to open the app.

Dec 14 02:36:46 iPhone SpringBoard[30]: Attempted to activate application com.apple.mobilecal while device locked
Dec 14 02:36:48 iPhone SpringBoard[30]: Attempted to activate application com.apple.weather while device locked
Dec 14 02:36:54 iPhone SpringBoard[30]: Attempted to activate application com.saurik.Cydia while device locked
Dec 14 02:36:56 iPhone SpringBoard[30]: Attempted to activate application com.saurik.WinterBoard while device locked

This shows a mix of official Apple apps and Cydia add-ons. As you can see from the messages apparently the lockscreen does load, it just doesn't show. Pretty sketchy. I could live with this but a side effect is that the phone no longer locks unless I press the power button. Yes, I know this is a valid work around but there are times I forget to do this because the feature to auto-lock should work and I've gotten used to that with the iPhone and previous phones.

I've tried reinstalling the suspect app and uninstalled it as well as uninstalled apps and add-ons I installed around this time. I've reinstalled Winterboard and MobileSubstrate but this made no difference. I know what will work, reload 3.1.2, jailbreak and start from scratch but I would like to avoid that if at all possible since it will take a decent effort to get things back to how I have them now.

Anyone have any ideas on things I can do to try to fix this without an overhaul?

Thanks!

Don't bother re-jailbreaking. I had the same issue before and after I re-JB. But I'm going to run the syslog myself to see if I get similar results. Maybe issue related to last LockInfo update?

It's possible although I reinstalled it as well as completely disabled it (though that may not be enough.) That may be an intermediary step I take to try and get this fixed. I updated the lockinfo hack and things were fine but I don't know if I rebooted or not... I do know that it started updating information on all my e-mail accounts, I have three, rather than the one I want. That's a bit annoying. It was an issue that was introduced three updates ago and was fixed two updates then broken in the last. There was little for me to complain about when the app was free but now that it's paid for I would like to have it addressed as soon as possible. I sent a note about that but have yet to receive a response.

:(

Well, it looks like it was something in the buggy advanced preferences app I installed. It mucked with something in the settings app of course and when the phone was reinstalled and the restore backup applied those issues were reapplied so the issues I experienced continued regardless of the lockinfo app being installed (and it wasn't but yet my phone still wouldn't autolock.)

So I restored to factory and skipped restoring my phone settings. I jailbroke, restored all of my apps and setup everything from scratch (including my lockinfo apps and theme.) Everything is working as intended and I even gained the bonus of the mobileterminal working, woot! It didn't work the first time around so this is a good thing.

hi there,

i have the same issue here... after restart springboard, it does not go back to lockscreen. whenever i press an icon, it just blinks and does nothing. the only way out is to press the power button to go back to the lockscreen, enter pin, then everything is fine.

i do not have lockinfo or advanced preference installed on my 3G. would someone please tell me how to fix this? this is very frustrating indeed.

** i really hate to restore and re-install ALL the apps...**

Spend $3.49 on PkgBackup. You will not be sorry. Re-installs all your Cydia packages automatically.

the only problem is i need to know which app(s) cause this issue. re-installing everything may very well put me back to the same situation.

anyone here experiences the same issue with lockscreen problem with respring?

fixed on my iphone 3gs, should work for yours too!!!

hi,

had this problem on my phone, after plenty of f'in about i have managed to fix mine.

it all started with "cellular data network" not being in the settings. after installing "supreme preferences" from cydia & enabling it in winterboard, i enabled that option (enable cellular data network), then removed "supreme preferences", since then the phone reboots/resprings to the home screen rather than the lock screen causing all the apps to blink rather than open.

FIX: reinstall "supreme preferences" and re-enable it in winterboard, phone will respring. then open the settings, under system there is an option "respring + lock" enable that and there you go, its fixed.

after that, i disabled "supreme preferences" in winterboard, respring and then deleted it from cydia cos i HATE it (even though it fixed the issue but its because of this app the issue arose).

hopefully that will sort your phones out without having to totally restore.

i found this thread when i had my problem and thought its only right to help someone else out so i registered and made this first post.

enjoy people :):):)

hi there,

first of all, thanks for the info. however, when i attempt to install supreme preferences, i have version 3.1.2, it says i can only install this with firmware < 3.0.

so i can't even install supreme preferences to test your scenario.

by the way, i have preferenceloader install. could this be the culprit?

hi,

im sorry to hear that you also had the problem.

my iphone was also on 3.1.2 and it installed fine without any problems, there is an old package for the 2.0 fw and a new one for the 3.0+ fw.

here is the source: http : // cydia . xsellize . com (without the spaces obviously)

this source is also packed with loads of other great software so everyone thats reading this should add it and join their forum too, full of clever people with great advice.

anyway back to the point, add this source and then search for "supreme preferences 3.0". that should do it, once installed follow the previous instructions.

hope that helps, post back if it does or doesnt as it will help someone else in the future.

cheers
