I happened to run across Loewe's product line the other day, and all I can say is WOW. Excellent design, even in their stands.

So my question(s) are:

Is it possible to find these TVs for sale here in the US? I would hate to be deprived of such good design...

If I am SOL, anyone have any recommendations of TVs/ TV stands which would compare favorably to Loewe's offerings available stateside?

Thanks for any assistance, I move into a new apt next week and need to go TV shopping. I tend to be a design freak, unfortunately...

According to this page, they are.

But on the other hand...

Dear Valued Customers,

it is with regret that we must report that Loewe Opta Inc. has ceased the sales of Loewe branded products in the American markets in the foreseeable future.

Loewe Opta Inc. will continue to honor its obligations to provide ongoing technical service, parts, and warranty support through a US-based partner, PanurgyOEM, a New Jersey based service company.

Panurgy can be contacted as follows, with all service numbers remaining unchanged.

bummer.

I really liked their nemo line - sexiest CRT television I'd ever seen.

Guess I will look around at LCD teles again...

oh, beovision is a tad too expensive for my wallet.

other comparative product recommendations still welcome...

Basically most tvs look pretty good. If your're in the market for an "old-fashioned" CRT then your choice is somewhat limited.

I have noticed that in the USA they're a bit less concerned with the actual design of the tv. Its all about bigger is better, whereas here in Europe people settle for smaller sets that look really good. Sony and Philips tv's are both quite nice. As far as LCDs and Plasmas go, they're all pretty good looking!

With a Loewe you can't get wrong. In all the tests of the consumer association (free translotion!) here in the Netherlands, Loewe always comes out as best buy, despite the higher price then a Philips or other brand. Their colors are better then Sony, Philips or other brands. If I had the money, I would go for a Loewe as well! For now, it's on my wishlist.

Loewe TV's are incredibly nice looking, especially their newest range.

However, we had a Loewe Arcada and the tube went (twice!). Luckily both times it was covered by insurance..but to have a tube go on a TV twice is a little odd (especially when half the time the tube is just as expensive as the TV).

Another problem with Loewe is the availability of parts. So - if you're TV doesn't break, you're fine. If it does..uh oh. (Basically, IMHO)
