Log on keyboard auto fills like a key stuck..

I have an iMac and upgraded to 10.11.1. However, normally after the iMac has been in sleep a long time, I go to log on screen and it won't let me type in, it then autofills in the password, a long list, as if a keyboard character was stuck in.

The keyboard won't respond, so I'm stuck. The mouse works, keyboard has new batteries and is fine rest of time once logged on. Its infuriating, as I then normally have to restart, and because someone else is logged on, and I can't type, i then have to do a "force restart" by holding down the power button, not good for my iMac but there is no other way. Once restart then it logs on fine!?!?

Its a magic mouse, and a bluetooth Apple keyboard that came with the iMac. Anyone else?

Yes! I'm having the exact same problem with my iMac. The field will sometimes just auto populate to the end and the only solution is to force a shutdown (hold power button) and restart. Never happened until the upgrade.

Thoughts appreciated!

Ah not just me then!! Phew. If it's not just me then must be a bug? Will try and contact Apple, if you could also then, more people report it the better

Is seems that it might be a battery issue in the keyboard (one other poster I noted over on Apple Support had this issue too). I have been getting the "replace keyboard batteries" message, but I've been ignoring it as I usually do waiting for it to go down past 5% (mine was at 9%). So I've replaced the batteries and we'll see if my problem is cured soon enough...

My batteries are high though. I thought about that and been keeping an eye on the level, they are the Apple rechargeable to, and in high 80s...

I have had this issue too since upgrading. Just in the last day or so I got the replace keyboard batteries message. I guess I will find out soon enough if that was the problem.

I get this every once in a while, with a Logitech K811. 10 times out of 10 it's related to a Bluetooth conflict between devices - a nearby Magic Trackpad associated with another Mac or iOS device with Airplay turned on or my trusty Logitech EDGE UC headset. I've received a call on an iPhone with my EDGE connected and it's like my Mac lights up with keystrokes - kind of annoying IMHO.

Keeping my BT input devices some distance apart from each other solves the "manic mouse" or "krazy keyboard" issue 100% of the time. That's just me and my toys, tho' - YMMV.

Ok, it's not the keyboard batteries for me either--new batteries installed yesterday, this morning I had the autofill password login problem and had to force shutdown then restart....hopefully an Apple guru will step in here.

I don't think it's a bluetooth issue--I've been using the same Apple devices (and nothing else) long before the El Capitan upgrade when this issue cropped up.

Yes I'm using all Apple keyboard, magic mouse that I used on 10.9, 10.10, 10.11 all never had this problem.

Can you delete the pairing and try again? I haven't yet but will when next available.

I'm glad someone else has problem (sorry!!), Do know it's not my setup only, so must be a bug.

I tried to go through official Apple support but it won't let me as out of warranty. Is there no way you can ask Apple support a question unless in warranty?

I get this every once in a while, with a Logitech K811.

Same here on my Logitech. Some kind of bluetooth problem that was not preset on my 2014 imac even with El Cap, but is on my 2015 imac. Apple keyboard doesn't have this issue.

Same issue and not batteries. I'm using the new rechargeable keyboard, mouse and trackpad. I thought this was just a quirk on my system but glad it's not!
