Okay, I haven't heard much on any rumors of release dates for logic audio but while looking at the tech overview pdf of the new PowerMacs I found an interesting little snapshot (see below).
Logic audio to be released late 2002, is this anything new or am I jsut a little behind on the logic audio release dates? ANyone else got any idea of whats going on in Apple's new Emagic department?

:)

The screen shot is under 9 and the text at the botton is a fake (it is not part of the original picture).

BTW, I'm not sure about LOgic, but there should be consider the drivers for the midi & audio devices too. Any of them are ready for OSX. Would be good to have decent I/O audio ports on Macs, just like the Audio Media 3 used to have.

OI, how dare you, you go download the powermac g4 tech overview pdf from apple!!!! towards the end you will see this pic with the text, this is taken directly from an official apple document, I even said that on the original post so next time think before you accuse ppl of creating a fake! , it is just a clue as too when we can expect logic, remember this document came from apple, as for the screenshot being of os 9, since when did os 9 menu bars have the file menu replaced with the name of the topmost app, oh yeah i remember, that was one of the new features of MAC OS X

I don't have a link to the pdf but you can find it on the powermac page at apple.com www.apple.com/powermac

now, anybody have any constructive comments?

Man I hate it when people talk out there ass without checking sources. I have the PDF and it's on page 22 and it is definitely OS X.

Wish I could help you on the release date I just don't have any use for audio apps therefore I am not in the loop.

Things that make you say hmmmmmm

I think its kind of odd that Logic on OSX was supposed to be shipping a long time ago.

This leads me to believe that there might be some additional features added to the OSX version. Simply porting to CoreAudio shouldn't take this long.

I doubt we will see very much UI changes either.

yeah, from the people i work with in the biz Logic for OS X was almost completed just before the Apple aquisition. word is that Apple forced a few of the "big ones" (Logic, Cubase, DP) to hold back releases until 10.2 since the weak use of Core Audio in 10.1 will do little for music pros who need multiple ins/outs. Well, 10.2 is here, Logic is not and neither are any others and i still don't have the use of all 6 outs in Os X on my emagic(Apple) emi 2|6! Hey Apple, C'mon already. This is now YOUR product so get it working right please! pathetic.

With out talking out my ass, but totally on speculation and deduction - MWParis is going to have The Steve get up and 'parle un peu' - what better time to announce a few choice items like this. Eh? One month won't kill them and it gives the Key Note just a few more interesting and good items to roll out.

D

C'mon!!! I'm waiting!

So, late 2002? How about "very late 2002"!
MW Paris would be a nice time to announce Logic X...
That's all I need now to forget about booting into OS 9 for ever! :D
And I agree with tjwett: DELIVERRRR!
(Yes, I'm impatient, you can tell)

I'm digging this close up view in Jaguar (by pressing option-apple-star, then apple-option, +/-) I got a nice look at that REALLY small picture, I love it :)

It is out... but...

Well, it is out: Logic Platinum 5.3 for OS X
Big issues:
No VST
No Rewire

So, should we wait for Logic 6?

C'mon Propellerheads! where's Rewire for OS X?

VST- There's only a handful of Carbon VST's anyways so even had Logic X supported VST you'd be waiting.

Rewire support is supposedly forthcoming.

Digidesign support is forthcoming

OMF support is forthcoming

ASIO is dead.

Carbon VST will be able to be easily ported using a Library tool from Emagic that is free.

Audio Unit SDK 2.0 is due soon that will allow Developers to start creating Audio Units.

I would say that these features will come sooner rather than later. I will say Logic X 6 will have alot more features and possibly a new refreshed UI if rumors that Steve Jobs thinks Logics UI is horrid are true.

No VST is not an issue exactly. it's meant to be an improvement when the whole Audio Units thing takes off. Until then emagic will be releasing an application that will convert your VSTs into Auido Units. I've been reading up on this and it's going to be an amazing step forward, eventually. The standardization of Logic only accepting one plug-in type is so beneficial. Especially since it's not a 3rd party add on but an integral part of the system root that is embeded in the OS itself. It's really a step towards making your machine and software one fully integrated studio in itself. Personally I'm psyched and I've read that all the major developers will be in full support.

ReWire works just fine in OSX. I have no trouble ReWiring Reason into Ableton Live. So it's not Propellerheads, it's Logic and I think it may be gone for good if CoreAudio will allow us to route our audio between apps. There would be no need for it. Just like they did away with OMS and ASIO drivers. I'm all for streamlining.
