I have a core2duo macbook pro, (2.33Ghz, 15", 256MB ATIX1600), and have had multiple problems with the logic and controller boards. The logic board died on me, and I now have an unresponsive left side USB Port.
These are just some of the problems I've had with my macbook pro.

My question is, do the new Santa Rosa Macbook Pro's have different logic boards? Are they a different model number, in essence?

I think I may have a lemon, but I'm still kind of wary of getting a replacement from Apple with the same boards inside.

For anyone interested, I also got a bad battery and a bad wireless card.
The machine's been in the shop 4 times. Total time out of service is about a month, and I've only had this laptop for 8 months.

Do you think I could press for an upgrade to one of the new santa rosa macbook pro's?

Thanks for any insight.

Call apple and mention that it is a continuing issue, be sure you mention your old case numbers. Then ask if you can talk to a specialist about this as it keeps reoccuring.

When you reach a specialist talk to them about your current issue and then express concern how you have sent the computer to apple 4 times to get repairs and you are still getting problems with the device. Is there anything that you can do for me?

They usually go by how many times the computer was open and how many parts were replaced. They may offer you a new computer taking back your current one. If not, try to get them to promise you a new one on the next issue, be sure you get their contact information as the promise lives and dies with that specialist.

Play your cards right and dont demand or raise your voice with them, and they may work with you.

I have not taken this issue up with Apple yet, I've just kept taking it back in for repairs. Does the piece of paper you get when you send it in, the SRO, help?
