I'm seriously considering purchasing Logic Express at education prices, which is a mind-bogglingly low $99. It fits my need for compact power and my increasingly absolute need for an integrated score editor (controlling my MIDI hardware through the piano roll is wearing me thin!). I've been using another similar niche-filling application called Tracktion from Raw Material Software that has been pretty good but I'd love to see what emagic does to change my life.
The question is really whether there are any rumors about the Logic product line being updated any time soon, as they haven't really seen a significant usability overhaul since Apple bought them. Should I wait for say WWDC or MWNY to see if any of the creative applications get updated? I'd hate to buy with budget in mind and then have to make another purchase soon after. What, do you think, is the future of emagic's Logic?

It's hard to say. There's a forthcoming Logic pro 7 but who knows when. At Winter NAMM Logic Pro and Logic Express were announced but I have heard nothing about when apple plans to update each app. I am hoping to get Logic Pro 7 sometime next year myself.

if you get the apple pro training series book on logic you get a 28 day free trial... why not give that a go... im currently working through it and recommend it to everyone new to logic and interested to see what it can do...

logic pro six is safely tucked away at my girlfriends waiting to meet my open arms on may 22nd... [my bday]
