On my new Apple TV received as a Xmas present, I jailbroke the device and installed XBMC and icefilms. At this point, the download SSH app. 'cyberduck' using SFTP worked fine (selected SFTP, port 22, I entered my Apple TV IP address, root, alphine).
Then, I had problem getting icefilms working so I uninstall XBMC and re-installed XBMC and icefilms with the newer versions (XBMC11.0-BETA1 and plugin.video.icefilms-1.0.20). The icefilms stilled failed at "Script Error".
At this point, I noticed that a new IP address was assigned to my Apple TV and my wi-fi signal indicator was one bar less than before.
Found a patch to icefilms (patch file called megaroutines.py) but failed at 'cyberduck' with Login Failed. I also tried using putty. It opened into my Apple TV IP address but failed at Login. I tried to login in as frontrow and password frontrow; and as xbmc and password xbmc. Both failed to login.
If any of you clever people out there see this trouble report, please help. Thank you in advance.
If you know the default user id and password to the Apple TV black, please let me know. I can simply use the plain ftp to transfer my patch into the Apple TV.

Software versions on my Apple TV:
Apple TV 4.3
Seas0npass
aTV Flash (black), an official release installed
XBMC 11.0-BETA1 installed
plugin.video.icefilms-1.0.20 installed

Well, I also tried this over the past weekend (just wanted to check out XBMC). I was less than impressed - meaning it was nice, but didn't meet my expectations - and tried to revert back to stock. Well that bricked the ATV2.

So I put it in DFU mode (same as how you do it to jailbreak it) and once in DFU mode I just did a complete restore with iTunes. It now works fine and is stock.

I'd recommend trying that (getting it to a known good state) then try to set it up how you like it again.

Hello, rworne, thank you for lending a hand. Your advice aligned with my thinking. I did hit the brick on my Apple TV by failing to login. I will restore my Apple TV to its original state then start over again with the latest versions of all the software needed to reach a workable XBMC and icefilms. Other people succeeded their patch installations without any problem on their first try. Since both XBMC and icefilms are in development state I hope the developers will see my trouble report and make corrections.
