logitch g7 with mbp?

Hey guys. I just got my replacement MBP (no whine anymore, woohoo!) and I'm trying to set up my logitech g7 mouse. the LCC doesn't recognize it, and I have no idea how to use USB overdrive. I tried setting the fourth button to back in global settings, but it didnt do anything.

can anyone help me out? I just want the back button to work, but I have no idea how.

The G7 is a gamers mouse for Windows. There is no OS X driver support from Logitech for the G7 and G5. Check out the VX Revolution which has drivers for OS X.
 
well i've already *got* a g7, and i know there are ways to get it working, b/c I've read many accounts, i just can't seem to do it myself.

anyone else?
 
I have the G5 (the mouse) on my Macbook and using USB-overdrive to cutsomize the buttons (I have buttons for F9 F11 and F12, doubleclick, COMMAND+W) so I can use my computer without having to have one hand on the keyboard all the time.

The only bad thing is, USB-Overdrive does not support the 2000 dpi of the mouse (or some other thing as frequency or whatever). I like having my mouse on an extremely high speed without any acceleration (can you disable the acceleration is OSX somewhere?), one half square inch is what I have for covering a 20" wide screen. It's actually very comfortable, the palm rest on the table and the mouse is moved by the fingers. Other people can't use my computer cuz the cursor is moving so fast for them they are always asking "where is the cursor" while bashing the mouse against the table like when a secretary is surfing the web on the slowest possible mouse speed. And my OSX windows close (Command+W) when you push the mouse wheel to the right (it's very sensitive) so it's hell when you're not used to it I guess. :)

I don't have the smooth mouse movement (pixel per pixel precision) on fast settings, it makes little jumps that make it almost impossible to select a single letter in this text area for example. OSX supports the mouse itself, but you can't customize it at all. If someone has a solution for me, please help. I love this mouse and the tuning weights, lots of buttons, teflon pads etc.
 
Oh it totally just "works". the problem is I can't get the fourth button (thumb button) to work as a back button. The mouse is also very jerky, as the previous poster mentioned - the minute movements are very hard to control.

will this mouse just not work with OSX? are drivers coming? I guess I could try and sell it.

I have a Logitech MX510 - does that work like its supposed to?
 
Actually, Logitech has terrible Mac support. Even the webcams have no Mac driver. And those new mouses with the click/smooth clickwheels, the Mac driver sucks so bad, I gave mine back the next day.

Microsoft though has had great Mac support. The Operating System blows, but they have nice mouses. :p
