Logitech Combo Touch Firmware Update - Trackpad Stopped Working

I just installed the latest firmware for my Logitech Combo Touch for iPad Pro 10.5, and the trackpad no longer works. The keys still work. Reconnecting the keyboard and rebooting the iPad did not resolve this. I’m running iPadOS 14. Is anyone else with this keyboard experiencing this issue?

Sorry to hear about your problems - updated firmware yesterday and if anything the keyboard/trackpad has actually been working better for me (before I would have to disconnect/reconnect after closing the keyboard cover on the ipad for prolonged period).

Hopefully not a widespread experience? Hope you’ve found a solution!

Same issue with my iPad Air (2019) - did the firmware update as well as the ipadOS update. Keys work, but the trackpad doesn't. Tried the usual remedies (clean connectors, restart ipad etc.) to no avail.
Would be interested to hear if anybody affected was able to fix the issue and how...

This firmware update FINALLY fixed the perpetual disconnection issue for me on my 10.5” Pro. I haven’t had the trackpad issue as described in this thread, but I’ll report back if I do.

Purchased the Combo Touch for iPad Pro 10.5" and received it on Saturday. Keyboard and trackpad seemed to be working fine but it prompted me to download the Logitech Control app to download and update the firmware. After a few attempted updates where the app returned an error, a restart of the iPad resulted in the app showing that the firmware updated successfully, but the trackpad stopped working completely. The Settings did indicate that it recognized a trackpad though. Keyboard remained completely functional. Replaced it with another unit from Amazon, but before connecting the new unit, I deleted the Logitech Control app, and I'll hold off on a firmware update for now.

I have this exact issue, the keys and backlighting work fine and the OS recognizes that there is a trackpad connected too. But, the cursor doesn’t show up, I’ve had a problem before that the cursor would show up but it could still interact with items on the screen, it doesn’t anymore, and if the keyboard falls asleep or the iPad the trackpad won’t wake it up. I’ve looked around logitech forums and there is a lot of people with this issue. No word on how to fix it.

Have you tried powering iPad off? If it does not work, try also reset with holding power button and home button down at the same time so long it reboots (Apple logo appears on the screen). This happened to me once and I had to do that to make it work.

Not sure what caused it, but I was moving the iPad and I think connector got partly disconnected while lifting it.

I did not have any problems installing new firmware. I just let it stay idle while it was doing it, as it instructed to do.

I’ve been experiencing trackpad issues couple times now. Two kind of issues, sometimes gestures get stuck, like closing app with 3 finger gesture and it stucks so that lifting fingers even does not stop, all it does it keeps changing app size on the screen and does not respond, only by pressing standby to turn screen off and then back on resolve that.

Another thing is that sometimes trackpad stops working completely, it usually start so that pointer just moves up and down or vertically between two app icons on the home screen no matter how I try to move it, just bouncing up and down, then soon after that pointer dissappear completely and does not respond to trackpad at all, keyboard works fine all the time.
Sometimes just remove / reconnect keyboard resolve that but sometimes only resetting iPad by holding power and home buttons down makes it work again.

I did some googling and seemed like Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad owners are seeing this second issue too, so I was wondering if that is some IOS problem?

I started seeing this issue more after updating from OS 14 to 14.01 version couple of days ago. I saw that maybe once before that. Also Widgets and app icons get crazy occasionally, like weather widget is empty or home screen icons some are smaller randomly.

I have updated also LCT firmware but it was right when I got it with my new Air 3 few days ago and it was working fine in the beginning.

Nobody else having these issues with their LCT with 14.0.1 OS version? I also have the latest LCT firmware installed.
Trackpad is acting up at least once a day. Keyboard keys work always, so it cannot be connector related issues.

In a nutshell - to retrigger the firmware update - open the Logitech control app and on the ON SCREEN picture keyboard hold down simultaneously Q W E Option keys (ON THE SCREEN NOT THE ACTUAL KEYBOARD). The ”Your keyboard is up to date button turns green and active and then tap on it and the reinstall of the firmware will start.

I tried it and it worked!!

But does that work for trackpad going crazy daily? Like I said mine works but it will get this issue where it stops working until I do two button reset for my iPad and then it works again for a while (to next day or so).
I understood that firmware reinstall trick was for completely dead trackpad...?

OK, I tried this mentioned firmware reinstall even the first installation seemed successful and it seemed to make difference. Since that my LCT trackpad hasn't gone crazy and it has been like a week now. Before this it used to go crazy once a day and needed iPad two button reset to make it work (but it always worked by doing that).

Only once since FW reinstall mouse pointer has vanished but even then it seemed to work, I could use gestures blindly and even mouse if I blindly managed to get invisible pointer to right location. However even that was solved by swiping all apps closed and the pointer appeared again and I did not need to reset iPad or anything like that as before. Also that mouse pointer going missing only happened once and I suspect that could be some OS bug rather than LCT thing??

Anyway, seems like this FW reinstall trick is worth to try in case there are problems with trackpad going crazy (by going crazy I mean that mine use to do so that mouse pointer would only bounce between two random home screen icons no matter how I moved my finger on the trackpad and after a little while the mouse pointer vanished and required two button reset for iPad to make it work again).

I’ve had the same issue with the trackpad. In fact, it was on two different Logitech Folio touch keyboards. The firmware was installed properly initially but I did the QWE thing anyway for both and ran the firmware again to completion. Same issue. My iPad Pro 2020 with iOS 14.3 locked up and froze. I had to do a reset, again. Contacted Logitech several days ago with no response. I’ve returned one keyboard and the 2nd one is going back to Amazon. I just ordered the Apple Magic Keyboard which is not on sales for $199 at Amazon. I love Logitech products but this had to go.
