Originally it was too expensive $300 dropped to $249 now $99, and had lots of blocked content.

I own both generations of the Apple TV and I also purchased one of the Revues when they dropped in price to $99. My suggestion is to wait until Honeycomb ships on the Revue and then see what people think.

I have one, I like it very much, I installed the Honeycomb beta and this way its very useful to me. (I did lose Netflix, but hopefully soon the official Honeycomb will be out, Sept. I heard...)

Most of my content is on a 4TB NAS system so the AppleTV is only really useful to me with XBMC (which requires hacking) the Revue is more "open" in that I can run a DLNA streamer on my iMac and stream everything to it (I use MediaLink which I originally got for my PS3 but it works great for both!). The Revue also plays a ton more formats out the box.

I also like never having to switch inputs, the Revue goes in-between your STB and the TV so you just hit a button and the search/web is up. Plays flash content and streams a million sites. If you have a PC handy (I do, and love this part) Install Playon.tv and from the Revue bookmark gtv.playon.tv This will give you access to just about every online site (NBC, Comedy Central, Netflix, etc, etc.) Very slick and very useful since as I mentioned I lost the Netflix App but I can use this for now so I still have it.

I still love the Apple TV don't get me wrong, I have a ATV 1 with XBMC and a CrystalHD card, I have a ATV 2 with XBMC, I have a Logitech Revue (had to try it out once the price dropped) and I just got a WD Live TV Plus for my Master Bedroom (didn't have HDMI on the older Flastscreen so Component 720p does the trick) the WD has an UGLY interface and no built-in WiFi, but an $10 adapter fixed that. It does netflix in the bedroom and Streams from the NAS (also plays every format I have thrown at it, even high-bitrate 1080p with 5.1 sound) so I am happy even if it is ugly to navigate

Do you even own one? I'm as much of an Apple fan as they come, as I have almost every Appe device made, including apple tv2, but.....I went to best buy and picked up the logitech revue to add Netflix capability to my familyroom tv and after using it for a few days, I really like it. I can watch Netflix, amazon movies, pandora, surf the web, and do many other things the apple tv does not. I especially like the feature that allows me to watch tv in a smaller picture while surfing the web on the rest of the screen.

I figured I would try it out and would probably return it but I will definitely keep it.
Played some ames on it with the family on the big screen, and we all enjoyed it. I too read all the bad reviews and figured it would be marginal a best, but I was wrong. I also like the ability to use my iPhone as the remote for the revue and my comcast cable box.

For anyone wanting to add nexflix to a spare tv or even their main tv, this is definitely worth a look. Sure I can use AirPlay and the other apple ecosystem features on it, but I don't use most of them anyway, so it doesn't matter.

I bought one to try out Google TV (only after they dropped the price to $99). It doesn't do Google TV any favors, but it may have some potential if Google ever gets around to releasing the App Store for Google TV.

The TV control aspect of the Revue is a joke. It only works natively (over HDMI) with specific Dish Network receivers and requires an IR blaster connection to control other set top boxes. You also get a weird "there's a menu within a menu" feeling when controlling your cable provider's DVR.

The full size keyboard is goofy and not practical for a TV device either.

I would love to see Logitech (or another Google TV partner) make a Google TV box with a built-in DVR with CableCard and OTA tuners. Maybe that's what Google is planning to do with their recent SageTV purchase.

You have to remember this is Google TV 1.0. However, for me, the Revue doesn't offer anything above what the Roku offers. If you want an Amazon VOD, Netflix, Hulu Plus, etc device get a Roku box or make do with the Apple TV (with Netflix only).

But i still hope theres a new apple tv 3 this year


The problem i had with it was surfing the web

I was zooming in and out like i was using safari on my phone
And i didnt like that

hey man i have a macbook and a revue and i really want a good media server to use with it???

i used to use tvmobili and now it does not work anymore??

medialink works fine with your mac and revue???

The only device I would recommend other then the ATV is the NTV550 for it's ability to play Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD and 5.1 FLACs up to 192khz (via pass through).

You can essentially play full blu-ray rips on the thing.

Shame Apple wouldn't allow pass-through for this as well (Replacing 5.1 flacs with 5.1 ALACs).
