Logitech Mouse Compatibility

Hi, fellow forum members

I recently purchased an 20" iMac 2.16 (the previous model). I have got a Logitech G9 Gaming Mouse which I wanna keep on using, and my question is that, will my G9 mouse run on Mac (Leopard, since im going to upgrade my OS when my machine is here)? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I use a logitech MX 518 with my macbook/leopard. I use steermouse, which makes all of the buttons fully programable by application. It's absolutely great, but it does cost a one-time fee ($20 I think). Upgrades free after that.

If you don't want to spend the money (and it is worth it!), you can still use your extra buttons for dashboard/exposé/spaces. I'm not sure if the 2 DPI adjustment buttons can be programed for dashboard/exposé/spaces using only the exposé control panel, or if they can only work do DPI adjustment with leopard's built in software (and actually, I don't know if the G9 has DPI buttons anyway).

So in short, yes, you can use your mouse!
 
First off, thank you very much for spending the time to reply.
I just contacted SteerMouse via email, and got a reply from them (very fast reply FYI), and they told me that they were not sure if SteerMouse would support the Logitech G9, but they supposed it would work and would like to know the result whether it worked or not. Well, since the iMac I ordered is still on shipment, so I have no way to test it. I am pretty sure the previous version (Logitech G5 REVISED) worked flawlessly using SteerMouse, so I wonder if any of you guys had sucess running G9 with SteerMouse on Leopard or Tiger?
 
I use my Logitech MX 1000 with Leopard. I use the latest version of LCC (Logitech Control Center), and have not had any problems at all.
 
I use a Logitech mx900 (bluetooth) with no drivers. It works fine, but I don't try to remap the buttons. (Maybe I should.)

I did have a minor issue with versions of Tiger between 10.4.2 and 10.4.5, inclusive.
 
The LCC software and the MX Revolution seems to be hit and miss on some iMacs. I tried the updated version for the hell of it - and still no dice, it worked like my first version. (slow response / poor resolution / unable to map all functions)

I've been using Steermouse for about a year without any problems in Tiger or Leopard. It was worth the $ for me.
 
I'm also using the LLC software with my MX Revolution, and it's done everything I've asked it to. I have specific key combinations mapped for Photoshop and Illustrator and it works like a dream.
 
New version of LCC

A new version (2.4.0) of Logitech Control Center has been issued. I've installed it and it works great, especially if you use Spaces. Description from VesionTracker is below.
