I want to buy a keyboard for my macbook pro 2017, i like more logitech but 1 year ago i bought a mouse mx master 2 and when i used airpods and the mouse in same time the mouse was laggy. After that i return and bought apple magic2. Hope with keyboard to not have same problem. Do you have problems with the keyboard?

I have both. I loved the XM Keys, but I’ve experienced weird Bluetooth issues and frequent beachballing. Not sure if it was the keyboard or the MX Master 3 that was also in use. I just got the Magic Keyboard and mouse and all those issues went away it seems. Only has been two days. This is on MBP16.

Update. No more beach ball or Bluetooth issues since the switch to Apple‘s own hardware. Also, both devices now connect when the Mac boots.

Thanks, nobody in reviews talk about bluetooth connection or issues, just about how fancy and cool is the product

That's because most reviews are written mere minutes or hours after people receive the product and are still hyped up and excited. Almost nobody bothers to use it for week or even month before making a preliminary assessment.

Generally speaking the problem with non-Apple Bluetooth keyboards is that they won't work before the OS is fully booted, meaning that you cannot use them to unlock a FileVault-encrypted drive upon boot time. This might not be a big issue on a laptop where you can always revert back to the builtin keyboard but even then it might get bothersome if you use it in a stand in clamshell mode most of the time.

Do you use clamshell mode? are 2 sides : one said that is bad and another saying that is ok, no problem with heat, or fans

Clamshell mode is totally fine and fully supported by Apple. If it was bad it would not be supported, Apple would make sure of that. I know people who have been using MacBooks in clamshell mode for years without any issues.

I have an MX Keys keyboard. I really like it. The Logitech software clearly states that if you want to use the keyboard to unlock a FV volume at boot you must use the USB receiver and not Bluetooth. This isn't an issue in my case, so I use BT to connect to my MBP and it works fine. I can use my built-in laptop keyboard at boot.

I began having issues with the new keyboard, but they were bearable. But it seems the issues would extend the issues to the my older mouse as well. It got to the point where everything just crapped and I was seeing beachballs as well.

Had to just pull the new Logitech MX keyboard, put the Apple Keyboard back on with receiver for the mouse, and NOW everything works fine.

I have no idea how to resolve the connection issues though. I hadn't seen anything about the connection issues. For me it seems like basically having more than one Logitech device connected with one receiver cause major issues.

As someone who actually really enjoys the typing experience on the butterfly keyboard on Macs, and the mid-way-compromise of the Apple Magic Keyboard 2, is it worth going for the MX Keys? I've got the Magic Keyboard 2 and love the entire typing experience, except that I've managed to spill water over it and now it doesn't really work. My bad. Both keyboards are about the same price, but I know I love typing on the Magic keyboard and it's significantly smaller as it's a TKL keyboard. Is the typing experience better on the MX to the point that I should deal with it not being TKL?

(Sorry to revive an older thread but I thought it was better than making a new one)

I own both the Magic Keyboard 2 and MX Keys, and switched over to the MX Keys in early March. IMO it's a much better typing experience but comes at the cost of being much heavier and needing to to be charged more often. Keys are noticeably weighty and bounce back a little when they're tapped, which leaves a really satisfying feel. Note that I connect via a USB-C hub on my Ultrafine, so I haven't had any connectivity issues.

Are you sure that when u connect it via USB-C you are not using bluetooth? I thought that USB-C was merely for charging. Actually, when I plug the MX Keys to my iMac it won't work unless bluetooth is activated on the computer.

i have been using the MX Keys for approx 1 week now as I wanted one keyboard to switch between my imac and my work from home PC (Dell laptop). I have not experienced any connection issues at all. My only issue is when I connect to my work pc or iMac every time i have to turn back on the illumination lights as reported in a lot of the reviews!!

Joeynym, do you have any issues with BT recognition on start up? The imac BT does not recognize MX Keys in order to enter login credentials. Once entered (using an Apple keyboard) connectivity seems fine. It's pulling out a keyboard every time. The dongle did not seem to solve this for me. I returned the product, but now it appears it's fixed. Thanks.
