Logitech Z-5500 Subwoofer is HUGE

I just got the Logitech Z-5500 computer speakers to use with my mac through a mini-tosslink cable. How come no one ever comments on how ridiculously HUGE the subwoofer is? Like this this is half the size of my desk, it makes no sense. Especially cause it doesn't sound like a ton of bass comes out.

Does anyone else use the Z-5500? I don't know if I should keep this because of how big the sub is

I have an old sibling of the Z-5500, the Z-560. It was Logitech's first try at high powered computer speakers. Is 4.1, 8" sub (supposedly 188 watts which we all know is ridiculous). This sub is also pretty big, not as big as yours, but fairly big, and it puts out very huge bass.

Fiddle with your settings, esp. EQ in iTunes. Whatever the computer outputs, the Logitech system will amplify.

You can adjust the centre, front, rear and sub individually- plus certain inputs have a 'Night Mode' that ramps all the settings down. I've found you can get really good quality quiet levels if you need- it's not just a beast, they really do have good clarity too.

How many reviews did you read before you bought? Every single one I read remarked on the monster of a sub. I love it though. When no-one's around I love cranking it up with my Wii or with a movie

Holy crap, you need to check your settings. I used to have two of these sets, and they were bass-tastic. And it's a 10" sub, so yeah it's going to be big...I don't think you read many of the reviews very closely. Great speakers. Compared to home theater setups, the sub isn't that big at all...my 12" Velodyne sub in my living room is a *lot* bigger than the Z-5500's.

It's not that huge. A proper subwoofer will be 8" or more. 10" is still quite small for most subs.

And I do believe that this particular enclosure is a passive radiator with like a 5 or 6 inch powered driver inside.

Really? I didn't think so. My Z-560s have 1, 8" powered woofer.
