Looking for Feedback: Logo Design for a startup company specializing in Home Theatre Installation & Home Security systems. Tried to Find something that encompasses both areas.
Any comments?

Edit: I personally like the Thicker Weight, but i just need to match the curvature of the "D" to the waves. Like what everyone is saying below :D

Neither one really blows me away, but I prefer the first one. The curvature of the sound waves matches that of the "D"...

Neither are fantastic, reminds me of target, the second one is better because at least the typography matches, the first one looks childish because the 'D' looks badly drawn on and made up.

the waves coming off the D are cutting into the 'inc' space to much. It needs room to breath. I like the second one, but you need to play with the D so it runs parallel to the waves. You could use a darker red, maybe crimson because the colours are contrasting too much. I think its got lots of potential.

I like the first one more than the second one. As WildCowboy said, the curve of the 'D' matches the waves better.

Would illustrate this but can't because I'm not on my mac!

the second one has better type, in order to stop the 'waves' cutting into the inc. bit - and also looking shoddy, I would suggest them being directed from the corner of the D in a 45 degree angle.

Also perhaps worth having 3 waves, increasing in size as they move away from the type.

Would look smarter then i think.

I think the tops and bottoms should be straight, rather than angled.

Use the first one like: HD)))
(However make the top and bottoms of the D match up with the waves.
And then put the Inc in the same size as the "Systems".

EDIT: but after that rough try out I'm not too sure.

The typography on the first one is messed up, as is the spacing of the bars on the second. I agree on the straight bottoms for the second one not the first. All in all both have flaws.

I like the second one better.

I like the concept too, I just think it still needs some alteration to get it completed. As others have mentioned about the spacing and such.

Also Red & Black is overdone

Honestly, if I didn't see the second one, I'm not sure I'd realize that there was a D in the first one. At least I see the D in the second one.

agreed.
also agree with small bars, moving away on a 45 degree angle.

I prefer the second one because the letters look more solid. I agree there should be more breathing room for the "inc." too.

Tip: don't use JPEG for such material... JPEG is for photographic-type images, GIF/PNG for logos and text.

thanks for the Feedback from ALL.:D
Its still very much a work in Progress... this is just a Trial Run. Got the Concept Down, so now its just tweaking and getting proportions right between the Fonts and Stroke Weights, and finding the right colors.:D

But once I realized it's a D, I prefer the 1st one.

and does it have to be red? How about a nice blue, or perhaps mauve? what color is mauve anyway?

The basic idea is sound (no pun intended) but if I were the client I'd want to see some more variations. There are elements of each design that work but neither individually.

The curvature (as already noted) and also the thinness of the sound waves is better in the first but the weights are generally better in the second. The black type is much better in the second.

I thought it looked fun to play with I really hope you don't mind. I know my attempt is crap but it might encourage some more ideas as I think your basic concept is quite good.

I alread did a large amount of Variations. No worries there :D
I figured the 2 above had the elements that i was looking for so I have finished out a few more Options and some other color variations for the client to choose from. Ill post'em when they decide. Thanks!

The font for the second one looks too much like the HD written on my external Hard drives

I like the first one better but needs to be tweaked some more...

;)
