I am trying to get a logo done for my new company. I signed on with LogoJeez because at the time, I needed something quickly and figured I could re-brand later when I had more money and time to go through the entire process.

Needless to say, 3 months later I'm still sending revision requests to LJ because I'm picky and not satisfied. I think I'm just going to end up doing one myself for the time being.

Anyhow, guess I want some feedback on some logo concepts from them, and also I desperately need to figure out what font they are using, because I love it and want to use it on some other stuff.

They told me it was Opal, but I can't find it anywhere.

Here are the samples...

I'm looking for something clean and simple.

The company is broad, but mainly focused on technology (websites, blogs, software training, consulting, etc).

Another question...

What's the best font type to purchase. I use both Windows and OS X. Should I buy Open Font or Windows/Mac TTF?

Looks like Open Font is best?

Wow. For a logo for a company whose tagline is "Simplify", I'd say LogoJeez (<sarcasm>Great name.</sarcasm>) is batting about 1 for 6, at best.

Snark

Its not Bauhaus but its very similar. Kabel is somewhat similar too.

I hope this logo if for an online company as their concepts are way too complicated and will not work too well in certain print situations. Imagine what a fax will look like, or even a black and white advert

My thoughts exactly. Which is why I'm going with my own now that I've found the font...

Curious, which 1 of the 6 did you, at best, consider?

Thanks for the font tip...

And I'm with you on the complex concepts - I don't think they understand english...because my revision requests have consistently been to simplify and remove gradients and 3D effects.

Luckily I'm only out 10% if they don't end up creating anything I like. I'm giving them one more round, then I'm canceling and doing it myself. When I do I'll post here for review - thanks for the input!

You mean OpenType? OT fonts are unquestionably the preferred format, way better than TTF.

You didn't ask me, but I'm going to say #1. All the others are really awful IMHO.

For the love of all that is good don't let them use any more Millennium Orbital Crescent Swishs!!!!!!

Thats sooooo fu***** true! I swear that every single client i had in the past 5 years that wanted a logo, asked for a version of their logo with a 'swooooosh' (they make that gesture with their hands too!!) slicing through the middle of the text.

Oh, and the color must always be blue.... they are a serious company afterall!. :p

Sorry for the offtopic, now regarding the logos, sorry to say but they are all plain confusing. I like none.......

On logos 1 and 2 the graphic and the lettering clash together. The 3R icon is next to the text 3Rules using the same font - It looks like "3R 3Rules" and its gonna be read that way! You either have a visually strong graphic with a more minimal lettering, or use "type as brand", that is the word becomes the logo without any additional graphics.

Logo no. 3 is unreadable and it also has the forbidden swoosh, so do logos 5 & 6.

And finally logo no. 4 is the exact opposite of 'simplify'. So we are left with none.

Sorry for the constructive critisicm but it's mostly addressed to the designer, whoever he is.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback guys...as I mentioned, I don't think they understand English very well as a cheap outsourced development company, so they missed a lot of my suggestions and desires.

LOL about the swooshes, tell me about it!

Think I'll go with my own design using the font I like, and just do type as brand for now.
