Lokking to jailbreak my iphone but need advice

I dont know alot about hacking iphone, but im looking to unlock mine. I know you can unlock it with software, but i herd a sim was easier to install and works better on 3g networks. I also herd that some software will cause me to lose signal strength. Is that true? And which way will be the easiest for me with the least risk to my phone. thanks in advance.
