I downloaded candybar and replaced the TotalFinder icon in the applications pane and the Finder icon in the settings icons pane > dock icons and relaunched the dock but nothing changed. I also tried replacing my internal drives icon but that didn't change on the desktop either.

Edit: I logged out and back in for some changes to occur. When I logged back in for a brief moment I could see the me gusta icon in the dock but then it went back to TotalFinder. I guess TF is interfering somehow.
Edit: I tried turning off the option to show the TotalFinder icon in the dock back to original but I'm still seeing the original and not the me gusta icon which I've replaced the finder dock icon with. Help?

yea i never had any luck with totalfinder.

with candy bar the only icon that gives me trouble is the dashboard icon. but its really easy to use and you can customize folders in the organize part on the left, then save them if you need to outside of candy bar as an icon package.

Finally got it to work! I think logging out then back in did it.

Do you happen to know how to change the dropbox folder icon and do you have any good ones?

Do you know what happens after the 14 day trial of CandyBar finishes? I like it but I'm not sure if it's worth $30. Do the icons go back to the original ones or am I just not able to change anymore icons?

Use LiteIcon. Free & changes the icons. Candaybar will just reset.

I bought it. My OCD told me to.

I really like the Finder icon - but I'm afraid $30 is a bit too much to pay to change a few icons. I'm just a boring guy with boring icons.:)

Thanks for the info, though.:D

The icons will stay, and CandyBar will continue to work in a limited fashion (if it's like the last time I tried it). You can't add any icon packs and can't keep more than a few icons in the library, but you can still change icons and still revert back to the originals.

According to the posts by others, you don't have to pay to use it even after the trial so just set the finder icon and others you want before the trial just in case. I really like some of the icons that came with CandyBar.

I've changed most of the icons I want so if they're gonna stay even after the trial I don't see a reason to buy it. Thanks for the info.

Used the "Me Gusta" icon for the Finder, a Canon T2i/550D for iPhoto, and another icon for Macintosh HD

LiteIcon is a nice, free alternative to Candybar. I've found that when i use Candybar, sometimes i have to restart before the icon will change on my Dock, where LiteIcon will change instantly almost 100% of the time. (Once you click on the icon again)

Also, whoever made that icon has to be a Redditor. lol.

Download CandyBar and just replace the finder icon with the icon from the link bdodds1985 provided. Unless you're using TotalFinder then I'm still working on a way to make it show up on the dock. http://panic.com/candybar/

No need for additional software... just replace the Finder.icns file located in /System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/Resources. Be sure to keep the original somewhere in case it doesn't work.

Also, in /System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources, there is a Finder.png file that might have to be replaced. Be sure to have the same image dimensions in that case.

Maybe it doesn't work in recent versions, but I have done it back in 10.4. I now enjoy a more default look so I haven't tried it on 10.5 or 10.6. However, I can tell you that for individual apps (I've changed Terminal, System Preferences and a few others), my technique works.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing- new version.

I changed both of the ones you suggested and also finder128.jpg with no luck, and that's all the finder icons that I can find so I don't know what else there would be to change.
