I have an SR MBP and recently it is taking a very long time to even get to the screen where the gray apple shows up and the wheels starts spinning. It will just sit at the gray screen that comes up when you first turn it on for 30-40 seconds. It used to only stay there for 15 seconds at most! Could something be wrong with my MBP? Is there anything I could try to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Do you have much free space on your boot drive? Maybe try verifying the drive in Disk Utility. Do you have any peripherals plugged in? have you checked that your hard drive is selected as the startup volume in System Preferences?

I have a 160 GB drive and 45 GB is free. No peripherals plugged in. This drive is set as startup volume in System Preferences. I will give verifying the disk a shot though! Thanks.
my 2 month old SR MBP takes about 35-40 seconds from power button to my desktop. My CD MBP never did that so i was a little taken back, but from what i hear it's normal (annoying, DEFINITELY, but normal, yes).
Do you have a disc in the optical drive, by chance? I noticed that my SR MBP boots about 30 seconds slower than normal when I've got a disc inserted.
