anyone else experience this?overall i love yos but not the boot time, hopefully fixed in a few beta builds?mind you i have a 512 gb ssd
I get a progress bar on each boot (using a SanDisk Extreme 64gb Thumb drive which is very fast and works great) and it takes about 20 to 30 seconds for the bar to complete ...is that normal?
I get the same progress bar and takes 30 sec to 1 min to boot on my internal 2tb drive.
Takes me about 10 seconds. I have it as my main OS on my macbook pro and not on an external hard drive though.
how so just wondering cause i have a top of the line imac and don't see anywhere near 10 seconds lol
I'm pretty sure boot time increases with the more external devices (USB/Thunderbolt) you have...
I currently have 7 thunderbolt devices attached and 1 USB3.
My boot time is about 20 seconds, that's with an internal SSD (SATA3).

odd i only have one connected usb which is my kb and the boot time seemed very slow compared to mavs
What was the last version of OS X you clean installed onto your Mac?
My iMac came with Mountain Lion pre-installed, and I've installed Mavericks, then YPB1, then YDP5 over the top...
Do you use VMWare? I know that Yosemite introduced some kext signing feature that might impact on some software that installs kexts of their own, like Trim Enabler and VMWare..
this is a new imac 27 i got intel i7 512 gb ssd etc so came with mavs i made a sep parition to test out yos and the boot time was slow on it everything else seemed fast
