Anyone else having this issue? I have a 2014 rMBP 15" that used to boot up in just 4-5 sec, now it needs 30-40 secs. I have to wait 20 secs after the bootup sound until I see an Apple logo.

I've made two installs over the last few days with Yosemite PB3 and my Cold Boot Up is around 9 to 11 seconds. My shutdown time varies between 2 to 4 seconds. Something is wrong with your system, programs, time machine if you used it or the install went bad. Sometimes the install could be messed up a bit. My MacBook Pro sig below.... With the MacMini 2011, with a HDD the story is different and slower of course.

SpotLight (Indexing) might be adjusting as well, and may take a bit more time.

Same with me, and I'm on a 2012 15" rMBP. I also starting getting a light boot up screen at the same time.

Reseting the PRAM did the trick. Before that I also repaired disk permissions.

I would boot with CMD-V (verbose mode) and see what its doing.

Verbose mode didn't show anything wrong, but thanks for the suggestion.

Man, you guys are lucky! I'm running 10.10 on a late 2008 MBP. Boot time is about 2 1/2 MINUTES. Sometimes 3!

I'm running a new iMac (bought 3 months ago) and it still takes 2.5 to 3 minutes to boot.

MBP 5,1 late 2009 boot time OCZ 480 GB OCZ SSD 8 GB RAM

cold boot times:

button press = 0 sec

apple logo = +15 sec

logon screen = +50 sec

fully booted, usable = +60 sec

--------
summary:
cold boot power on to ready to use = 1 minute

wait what? takes me about 8 seconds until it's all fully loaded. Are you guys on dp8 or beta 3?

This is likely because your Macintosh HD is NOT selected as boot disk.

Go to System Preferences / Startup Disk, select Macintosh HD as startup disk.

Reboot.

Good point, could be the sniffer boot procedure.

BTW, I dual boot, speeds are about the same. One caveat, I don't mount, via /etc/fstab, Yosemite when booting Mavericks and vise versa.

Mine is Pubic Beta 3 and its about 10 seconds cold boot up and 3 seconds for shut down.

On my Hdd with the Mac Mini 2011 model its of course much longer boot up and shut down is about 20 seconds still.
