If I have a folder containing many files and each file has a relatively long name, the middle of the name is replaced by a bunch of dots, letting you see the beginning and the end of the file name and still shortening it down so you dont have file names taking up the whole screen.

On Windows, when you hit a file with a long file name, you get the full name of the file, and as you click another file, the first files name is shortened down again.

Is it possible to turn this on on a mac mini? It gets confusing to me having a bunch of files with almost the same name, expect for the part of the name that is in the middle. So when the middle gets replaced by dots to short it down, I cant recognize one file from another.

I hope yall know what I mean

You can change the width of the Name column to what ever you need to see all the names depending on what view you are using.
Drag the column to what you want.
