Seeing all of the rumors for the past few months, I planned for the new mini to come in at the $1500-$1600 price range and held off upgrading my 5,1 mac pro. I'm glad I did.

Before I pull the trigger and purchase a mini I have a few questions I'm hoping I can get answered.

1. I am running dual 4K monitors (27UD68P). Right now they are hooked up via display ports. Looking at the new mini, there is one HDMI and four thunderbolt/usb3. The 27UD68P monitors have a display port and HDMI inputs. What cables will I need to get the dual monitor setup working with the new mini?

2. I just wired my house with cat6 ethernet cable and purchased a NAS for general file backup and PLEX media. From a quick glance, cat6 will do 10gb ethernet over a 55 meter distance (well within my range). However, when I look at 10gb ethernet switches on Amazon I see whats called 10base switched with a price over $500. Is the technology that new or am I seeing the wrong thing?

Thanks for you time,

Han

Chatted with an apple specialist and got an answer to question #1:

The mini will drive dual 4K displays. She originally recommended HDMI to HDMI and a Thunderbolt 3 to displayport cable. I asked if I could run two Thunderbolt 3 to displayport cables and she said that would work, so that's what I went with. Wanted to add this to the thread to help anyone in the future.
