Looking for 2gigs of Certified Mac Pro Ram for $350

I don't know how many times people have to say that it doesn't need that honking heatsink to work. I have 2 2gb Kingstons in my Mac Pro for a while now that I got from newegg for $349 each. Prices are going up though. Its now $365 each.

always kinda hesistant buying non apple certified ram now
casue last time i added this kingston ram into my iMac... and well not worth the hassel and the extra $$ to pay for repairs..

What does that mean? Are you saying it damaged your imac?

Except that after a period of heavy usage, your RAM is 15-20C hotter than properly sinked RAM.

Do you know how that's effecting your investment down the line? I don't - but I wouldn't take any chances with $350 worth of RAM (or a $2500 computer).

Wow, if prices are going up then I'm worried that the price will continue to be really high for an excessive amount of time. How long do you guys think before the price comes down a significant amount? You guys think I should buy now, or wait a couple months by watching how many apps I have open?

Unfortunately those lack heatsinks to Apple spec, unless you can prove that otherwise.

im wanting to buy 2gbs in a day or so for my macpro
and i dont want to pay over 400, someone else on the forum mentioned that he added after market heatsinks to his and he has had no problems.

i actually use my mac, maya rendering, final cut hd video, photoshop/aperture work all day usually. not to mention i enjoy useing firefox (memory hog) and itunes while im working.

i have never bought apple certified ram, and never had a problem in my life, i dont think buying this kingston ram will matter.

i usually dont go after the cheapest ram possible (the kingston isnt the cheapest from newegg) but their are not that many options, besides the ones that are way the hell up in price.

any ideas? im wanting to get the ram, and add on the heatsinks.
2gb is all i can afford at the moment as im buying several other products.

Would it make sense to attach those heatsinks to the stock kingston heatspreaders, or do they need to be directly on the RAM chips?

honestly, im not going to attach or buy them until i have problems, if these really do suck, ill RMA them back to newegg for a replacement, if they get really hot and have problems again, ill strip the current heatsink, and place those copper ones on them.

I have 2gb of kingston hyperx ddr2 ram in a rendermachine i built and it goes non stop with no problems (doing overnight renders which kills machines)

i also have crucial memory in my current amd workstation (x2 4400) with no problems, the crucial just cost me more.

im confident in past experience with kingston, i have never bought kingston for my mac before, ive been using crucial, but those crucials on newegg, dont look nice enough imo

im ordering my kingston's tomorrow as my macpro will be here tomorrow.

ill update here if i have problems but i doubt / hope i do. i cant really do much work with only 1gb of ram, but ill see how happy i am.

going to order 3 500gb drives as well.
