Lighted Lapdesk from Brookstone
New member, 1st post iirc, so I thought I'd share that item above. My Wife and I popped into a Brookstone earlier tonight on the way to the Apple Store here in Las Vegas and I saw that sitting up on the shelf. The underside of it is made of a foam memory-like material (think Tempur-Pedic mattresses) and covered with a suede style stretchable fabric.
For the price it's absolutely amazing considering all the stuff you get. The light is battery powered and comes in handy at times. The lid lifts up and allows you to store some goodies or items in.
I like the look of the iLap but, I just can't see myself paying that much money for a sheet of aluminum with some foam covered rolls - but that's just me, mind you.
It seems like it would help with keeping the MacBooks pretty cool, but I'd say one thing that would dramatically help the iLap with laptop cooling would be mounting some simple rubber feet on the upper surface; doing this would allow the laptop to rest physically
above the surface instead of flat against it.
This would increase airflow completely around the MacBook (or whatever laptop you happen to have on it) and still maintain the stability. Obviously, putting some rubber feet (4 should suffice, in the corners of the laptop or just inside the corners) would help in many ways, both for airflow and keeping the laptop from possibly sliding clean off the iLap surface.
(btw, those tips about the rubber feet were something I just thought of and would consider doing if I got a great price on an iLap someplace)
When I purchase my MBP sometime in the next few weeks, I'm getting one of these for utmost comfort when I decide to use the MBP in bed or relaxed on whatever I happen to be lying on.
