iPhone Looking for a new Twitter app

Hey all -

I’m looking for a new Twitter app and I’m hoping you can help me out. I was thinking about Tweetbot but I’m used to push notifications for accounts (which they don’t currently offer). I was looking at Twitterrific but I don’t know I’d they off push notifications for accounts. That’s some I use pretty regularly put I’d like to be able to customize my screen for the features I use most. Thanks!

Interesting. I tweeted them to ask and they said they don’t support tweet notifications for specific accounts. I’m attaching a screenshot to my post to show you what I mean.

I am pretty sure that the official Twitter app is the only app that does notifications for specific accounts. I, myself, have looked for a 3rd party app that does this and discovered Twitter does not allow 3rd party app developers to incorporate this feature into their apps. Granted, it's been some time since I looked into the matter, so if you happen to find an app that does this, please let us know.

You can only get push notifications for tweets from specific accounts through the official twitter app.

This was the response from tweeting about a year ago when I asked them the same question.

“No we cannot offer that feature over true push it's impossible I'm afraid given twitters api and the lack of background processes on iOS to keep streams open we cannot have that feature at all on iOS

Thanks for this. At least I now know what I’m searching for doesn’t exist (outside of the iOS Twitter app). I just need to decide if the features I’d Tweetbot or Twitterrific are enough for me to give up account push notifications.
