So othere is an option for MacOS to type in your queires for Siri and it appears in a small window in top right corner. I initiate it by my personal shortcut fn+spacebar. I really like it. My only problem is that Siri is extremely dumb.

Is there any other app that offers similar functionality that instead will search a search-engine for me like DuckDuckGo for example? DDG can do a lot of things like calculations, currency conversion, stocks look up, wiki summary etc etc.

why not use spotlight?
it does not give instant answer like search assistance and it will have to launch a browser tab. Plus spotlight searches everythign so you will see documents, music files, etc etc

That’s not entirely true. You can hit Cmd-space and type 2+2 and get an instant answer. It has all the functions you listed as examples. You can convert currency, look at stocks, etc directly in the results. I use it for these things all the time.

Perhaps I’m missing something ?

Have you perhaps disabled “Siri Suggestions” in Spotlight? Because you’ve been able to do math, stocks, and wikipedia in Spotlight for a long time now…

Of course spotlight does not do natural language queries like your Super Bowl example. But it can do simple functions and lookups.
