Hi. I am wondering what program I can buy (Price really doesnt matter, I just want to buy the best thing out there) to make dvd´s.

I have recently captured a few home movies I had on VHS to my mac, but since I use an External DVD burner, and not an Apple Superdrive... I cant really use IDVD... wich came with my computer :-/

I want a program that is hopefully just as easy to use and can easily organise a good menue to be able to go from movie to movie.

Any help is highly appreciated :-D

It sounds like DVD Studio Pro is what you want--it's expensive ($500), but it's a top-notch, pro-level DVD authoring program that'll be hard to beat. And, it'll burn to external drives.

That said, for others looking for an iDVD alternative that's a little cheaper, you might check out Sizzle:

Although I haven't actually burned anything with it yet, it's got a clean, simple interface, plus basic menu and chapter functionality, it says it'll burn to external drives, and its FREE.

It doesn't, however, do MPEG2 encoding, so you'll need another program like FFMPEG or Mediapipe to handle that, making the overall process somewhat more complicated.

[edit: stupid typo of iDVD vs DVDSP]

iDVD is part of iLife, it is not a $1000 program.... I think you were refering to DVD Studio Pro. Nothing comes close to DVD Studio Pro... Nothing!

You can also get Quick Time Pro to encode your MPEG2, iDVD actually does it all for you and DVD Studio Pro use to come with the Quick Time Pro serial number.

DVDSP is $499 and comes w/compressor (Apple's new compression program).
