The only thing I can say I'm not happy about concerning my 11" MBA is the fact that the 3.5mm jack doesn't do multi in/out like the 13" MBP does, and I'd really like to be able to record audio-in from a 3.5mm jack.

I'm looking for something that won't be a hassle to carry around, and some searching brought me to this:
http://www.amazon.com/Syba-SD-CM-UA...S6CS/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1304462540&sr=8-4

a $7 USB dongle that gives me a line-in, but the problem is that it's only mono, and it seems that maybe it's thick enough to lift up the side of the MBP when it is placed on a flat surface. Is there anything out there that people use for this, that preferably is nice and small and has a stereo line in?

Thanks.

I was intrigued by this idea too when I discovered that the headphone port is not a digital port that can be used for in or out. HOWEVER, I found out today, by pure chance, that it can be.

The headphone socket has 3 pins, 2 for stereo and 1 for mic, so when using the apple headset headphones you get mic/controller function!

Therefore, if you buy one of these:

US:
http://www.amazon.com/Headset-Buddy...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1304783210&sr=1-1

UK:
https://www.box.co.uk/Startech.com_3.5Mm_4_Pin_To_2X_3_Pin_3.5_1070235.html

Then you can use your headphone socket for both headphones and mic/line in!
