Hi,

I'm looking for a wireless headphone/mic to be able to skype (for example) using
my powerbook, without having to be chained to it!!!

Any suggestios?

Jabra makes bluetooth units, about $70, which will work with your powerbook. I've been pleased with audio quality for chatting, but not for listening to music. I don't know about other manufacturers. If you have a new pbook with Bluetooth with EDR, see if anyone is making earpieces that support it as well for better communication.

A word of caution: Be careful to redirect your audio only after connecting the unit to your powerbook, and to redirect it to your speakers before disconnecting from your powerbook, or you may suffer aggravating attempts to get the audio subsystem on your mac working properly.

and it works fine with the PB, right?

It's smart to check with the manufacturer. My wife's is made for Verizon. The PowerBook doesn't recognize it, of course it's designed for her phone. She may check on the other models that the Verizon Store offers.

i just called platronics and they said if it is the latest PB, then it shouldn't be a problem... so i'll take their word for it now, and then hold them responsible if it doesn't work!!! ;)

I have plantronics M2500 and used it with Skype. Have a lot of problems with it. My friends always heared a noise coming from the bluetooth. My G5 does recongnize it, but sometimes I can talk through it and sometimes I can't. Very strange. Also battery life... After a couple of hours you need to recharge it, but you can't use it.
