I'm about to move from iPhone 14 to the new iPhone. My question is what the best way is to do it without re-logging endlessly to any app I will use the first time on the new iPhone. (I use a Paskey that as I understand is on the current iPhone).

I have a PC and I know there are 3 ways:
1. Via Quick Start by holding both phones and transferring via Wi-Fi.
2. Via iCloud.
3. Via iPhone backup through third party program like iMazing or Apple Devices that is super buggy...

So which is the best way to go? Tx.

I do this every year for both phone and watch. In the past few years nothing beats the transfer from keeping them close and let it do its thing via transfer. Number 1 on your choices above.

I have about 157gbs on my phone and have not had a hiccup doing this on past 3 phones. Nothing. Smooth as can be.

Good luck.

Thank you for answering the query.
I have lots of media on my iPhone that are not in iCloud, in addition to iCloud Music. So I am wondering if what you suggested will also transfer the media that is not in iCloud from the old to new iPhone?

It will. I have over 5,000 songs of which half are my own rips with artwork not iTunes bought.
They all transfer over along with other non iCloud files.
It makes a clean identical copy of it. Problem free. Everything. Watch too.

It’s the best way I’ve found. Error free.
And I’ve tried all the ways available.

I’ve done “as new” and all iCloud stuff populates automatically but other stuff must be added and it’s time consuming and in the end is no different.

Tx.
Just did not understood your last sentence:

"I’ve done “as new” and all iCloud stuff populates automatically but other stuff must be added and it’s time consuming and in the end is no different."

While in your first sentence you said "It will.. They all transfer over along with other non iCloud files.

Please explain. Tx.

As new is setting up the phone as a new one not copying any other phone or backup.

Reread the post.
I am describing two different ways of starting a new phone. Quick start or just setting up as a new phone starting from scratch no backup. If a phone install is buggy this is a way many use.

Your giving this way too much thought.

The easiest and fastest is putting the phones next to each other and let them do their job. It works very very well in my experience.

There would be no difference in terms of if a particular app makes you sign in again or not, between the three possible methods (Quick Start, iCloud restore, computer restore). They're three horns on the same goat. Just pick the method that works best for you.

It’s been a while since I purchased a new iPhone… I have the 11 pro max and just started to research the best way to transfer to my new soon to be 16 pro max. I don’t use iCloud and was just about to read should I start using iCloud to transfer. But you’re saying just place both phones side by side powered on and that’s it? Wow!!! Thank you! You just made my day! Worries over.

I did the Quick Start (device transfer) when I got my 13 Pro. It was fast, effortless, and everything transferred over perfectly and completely. Turn the devices on, set them side by side and follow the prompts - it takes care of the rest, including wiping your old phone after the transfer is finished. I'll be using it again next week when my 16 Pro arrives.

Another question in regard to the Quick Start transfer:

Which way is better/faster:
Using Wi-Fi or Using USB-c to Lightning cable connected between older iPhone and the new one?

Does anyone back up their old phone to their mac then connect new phone to the mac and restore?

Wouldn't this be faster than placing them next to each other?

That's what I usually do. I wasn't aware that the "putting them next to each other" thingy also transfers all passwords and stuff. I might try it with the new one.

The only issue with the iphone to iphone transfer is that if amy developer has obsoleted their app, you won’t get it on the new iphone.

Okay, all this looks good; the wireless transfer looks easy, too. My wife's iPhone 7+ stuff will be transferred to her iPhone SE 3rd gen. I know desktops but not phones. Are there any settings I need to adjust/enable before I do this? TIA!

Weird question.......I have to travel to my store a couple of hours away to pick up my 16PM. I will be driving around that area for an hour or two. I have a T-Mobile 5g hotspot that I can take from my motorhome and throw in my car. It should provide pretty good wifi speeds. Is the quickest way to update my new phone by hooking up both old/new phones up to my mobile wifi and transfer that way? I imagine it would be, just wanted reassurance...lol. Thanks!

I had problems with the phone to phone transfer last year - it kept hanging up. So I went to the Mac backup approach.

Should I be UN pairing my watch first, is that still a thing?

After all the good advice here about the wireless restore transfer to a new phone, I used my desktop Mac and restored from there. Simple answer, I was more comfortable doing it that way. Took less than 10 minutes and worked fine.

Just wanted to take the time to thank you for your advice on side by side! It worked perfectly like you said! Amazing… again thanks

Glad it worked for you! I just used it to transfer everything from my 13 Pro to 16 Pro, it took about 15-20 minutes total and worked perfectly.

Does it also transfer passkeys, logins, and what not? So basically does it do the same as backing up from a password protected backup stored on the Macbook?
