Anyone have any broken or non-working hard drives? I need a couple for a project I'm working on. I'd prefer large capacty one's 80 gig and up. I'll buy them. :D

Or does anyone know where I can get some cheap?

Thanks guys!

I have a 250GB Maxtor (that came out of a LaCie Big Disk) that sounds like a jetplane when it gets power. How much you want for it?

Well the most I'd like to shell out for these is like $20 bucks...not sure how much broken drives are worth.

I have a 30 GB and a 13 GB HD which are toast, but if you want larger ones that's cool. Not sure how much it would cost to ship to the US anyway, as it might make the whole thing cost-prohibitive. ;)

Indeed...trying to get these as cheap as possible.

Understood. It would be different if I were in the States, but being in Canada, costs would be too silly I think. Looks like you have a few prospects though already, so you should be fine. :)

I do. I'll PM it to ya.

Great just lemme know how much you think it would be. It doesn't need superpadding or express shipping or anything. :D

Anyone else? I need 2 more. :)

I have a firewire 250gig drive that MAY still work. I dont actually know what is wrong with it. Its just been sitting next to my CPU for a few months

Paypal me 30 bucks and its yours. Just tell me where to ship it.

Just out of curiosity, what's this project you're working on?

I am modifying the drives to use as stabilizers for my steadicam rig. Did some tests with some smaller drives and it was pretty good. These 250gig ones should be better. I will be adding more weight to the internal platters for more inertia.

If you;ve ever picked up a bare drive thats running you'll notice that it gives some resistance.

Ok I'm on a roll...need one more...might as well try for another 250gig...anyone? :D

That is quite possibly the nerdiest thing I've ever heard. Great Job! :) I wish that I was that clever!

iF you want it PM

I appreciate it though I need 3.5" 7200rpm drives. I scored 2 250gig ones here. Gonna hold out for another 250 gig or more. Thanks though! :D
