looking for car dock solution that charges iphone 5 & plays line audio (no bluetooth)

i currently have an iphone 4s and use the kensington liquidaux deluxe kit with no problems.

heres a sample picture of it:

it charges my iphone 4s, plays audio through the dock (not through the headphone jack) and plugs into 3.5mm line in on my car stereo. it also has a wireless remote that attaches to my steering wheel so i can play/pause/skip/shuffle effortlessly. basically the perfect solution for me and the 4s and it cost me about $40 at the time of purchase.

now i'm thinking of upgrading to iphone 5.

obviously the dock won't work anymore (i've also read the dock adapter doesn't work with the kensington liquidaux for whatever reason) so i'm looking for something pretty similar to the above. any suggestions would be great.

I use a Proclip dock 514422 (for iPhone 5 with no case) with integrated lightning cable mount for an iPhone 5, that lets me plug into USB power. I am very happy with it. Here is a link to Proclip docks for iPhone 5

My stereo has a USB port which sends iPhone audio to my car speakers, and charges the iPhone. All from the single lighting/USB cable

If your stereo has no USB but does have an aux input jack, you need a cig lighter USB charger, PLUS an auxiliary cable to send sound from the iPhone headphone jack to the stereo.

The advantage to using an auxiliary connection, instead of a USB connection is subtle. When I use USB to connect, my iPhone starts playing music as soon as I dock it. It chooses whatever I was playing last, or the first song in my library.

Now here is the problem. I use Navigon to navigate, and with a USB connection it REQUIRES that I play music, for Navigation audio to work. If I pause or stop the music, then Navigon goes silent.

otoh, with a headphone to aux input, I am NOT required to play music in order to hear Navigation. The two apps work independently, and each has its own volume control.

You MUST have a car stereo with at least an AUX port, PLUS a cig lighter phone charger. If the Stereo has a USB port, it eliminates plugging and unplugging the headphone jack in, which requires 2 hands.

Proclip also makes a windshield suction cup mounted dock base, if you don't want to buy their vehicle specific dock base. I like the vehicle specific base, it puts the phone more out of the line of sight of the windshield.

I have the Kensington 2 in 1 charge and aux cable and all I did was add a lightning to dock adapter. I've found that simple commands like those on your remote still work and the DAC in it sounds fantastic too.
