I am looking for some critique or advice regarding the design of my Apple related blog. Anyone have some ideas that could enhance the look and feel of the site?

The URL is http://www.alwaysg5.com

Thank you in advance! :)

very cool. only problem for me is reading the actual content. i cant seem to see the small letters and the white kinda adds to poor visiblitiy. other than that cool design!

Primalman, haha, sorry for the spelling mixup. Edited the post. Using my web browser's spell checker, it told me that critique was supposed to be critic. :p

I have to agree with macattack5 and primalman the over all look is nice and has a nice blog feel. The look and color fit in with apple. I would also agree with the previous in that the font is little tough but easily fixed on the viewers end.

hold on you didnt design that? how do you make a template that can use wordpress? you guys know of any good tutorials that show you how?

macattack5, the design was done for me by my bud, Larry Anderson, yes. I am sure that you can find some good tutorials online about making Wordpress themes. Try a Google search for "Designing Wordpress Themes".

I think the style is alright although for some reason I think a slightly darker shade of grey on the sides would improve the look by giving it more contrast. I could be wrong but that is my personal opinion. As far as the content, which we were not asked to critique, so far the majority of it just seems to be for people wondering how your computer purchase is going. The post about Leopard was nice though

Fotograffiti, I try to keep the content of the blog a mix of articles as well as personal stuff.

Just thought I'd add this, I'm Larry Anderson, and that used to be my blog design that I did and I told Caitlyn she could use it, it fits her blog nicely indeed.

Hey Caitlyn...this is Books from MacsNPods.

Nice to see you, and nice blog.

Oh and amacgenius you got a nice site going too. I remember seeing it over a year ago and finally found it again.

Although I agree that the type is perhaps a little small, I think the main issue is that the tracking (space between the letters is a bit tight) and the leading (the space between each line of text) is very tight. The reason that it's hard to read (and still is even if you increase the size of text in your browser) is because when you have lines that long of text, they have to be further apart than you normally have them, or your eye skips between the lines and makes it hard to read. You may notice a lot of websites don't run the text from side to the other like that, they have a column down the side – it makes for shorter line lengths that are easier to read. The optimum number of words per line is 12 or so, if I remember correctly, and yours is over 20 per line.

Assuming you don't want to change the whole design by putting a column or a picture down the side (hence shortening the line length), if you increase the space between each line of text it will make it a bit easier to read. If you also increase the text size by one, the combination of these two things should make a big difference to the legibility. Hope that's helpful. :)

Thanks, Lau. I'll see what I can do in terms of the code. :)

Hey Books! Long time, no see. Thanks for the compliment.
