Hey! I'm seeking your help!

I'm looking for a 27" monitor to use with my 2020 MacBook Pro (macOS Monterey) Processor 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5.

Can you please recommend a couple - not looking to spend a lot. Also if you can let me know which cables I require for the recommend monitor.... doesn't have to be Apple.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Plenty of affordable choices like Dell, LG to name a few. I've used both brands. I would probably go with a HDMI to USB-C cable for the connection. B&H Photo offers a wide selection of brands with reviews to help in your decision or go to Dell.com. Adorama is another choice or if you have a Best Buy in your area but their selection is not as good.

you could look for a monitor with USB C too.

I recently picked up an AOC U27P2CA, which is a 4k display for £300 brand new, and the benefit of the USB C connection is that I connect the one cable to the laptop from the monitor, and it charges the laptop, and displays the video over the USB C connection single cable. Very tidy.

That monitor is a 4K monitor, but if your not bothered about 4k, a QHD monitor would also work as well

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I’m in Canada.

When looking for a monitor does the monitor need to be a certain ‘refresh rate’ 60Hz? And a certain ‘display resolution maximum’?

Thanks again.

Most monitors will be at 60Hz. Some might give you an option at 30Hz. The exception would be gaming monitors
that are faster. Keep in mind that the higher the resolution, the smaller the text and you might find yourself squinting.

I'd look for a 27", 4k display. There are many.

Dell, Samsung, Viewsonic, LG.
DON'T buy "the cheapest".
But... don't over-spend, either.

Take your time, don't rush into buying -- read user reviews, etc.

Most displays will have 1 (or more) HDMI input, along with displayport.
Some of the more recent releases now come with USBc inputs, as well.

These may come with an HDMI cable (and perhaps other cable formats, as well).
If there's a cable "in the box", try that first.
In many cases, that's "all you need".

If the cable doesn't seem to work, THEN it's time to think "3rd-party cable".
BE CAREFUL when buying HDMI cables -- they come in all different "flavors".
You would want to see "HDMI 2.0" and "high speed" in the product description.
