I only have the DISC version of mountain Lion but I need the .app to install it on an unsupported mac. Is there anyway to do this?...

Well, I can't say exactly "where", but you may have to begin exploring some "alternative sources" other than Apple...

A "DISC" version of Mountain Lion? Lol, Pinocchio! 'never heard of that. Even Lion was not available on DVD but as a download and, for a period of time, on USB keys... When ML was 1st released, it was available as a download too! Today and for $20, ML is yours as a download from here: http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
