Anyone know where I might find an original restore disk image for 1,1 that includes Apple Hardware Test? I know it's an odd request, but I have a specific need for this original restore disk for my old 1,1 that I'm having difficulty reading a USB stick or hard drives. I suspect some hardware issues hence why I would love to track down this disk image to use apple hardware test as I can't for the life of me make a bootable AHT usb.

That bootable AHT doesn't need to appear in "the boot menu"

If you have the bootable USB hardware test in a USB slot, can you boot to that while holding the "D" key (which is what should work)?

Did you try the other method? Restoring the .diagnostic folder?

The computer is suddenly unable to boot a USB installer (various) or a drive with Lion or a drive with el cap. All attempts end at sitting at the spinning apple. Tried various minimal configurations, verbose, nothing alters it. Was hoping to get into AHT to test.

@DeltaMac, I'll try again but I don't believe that worked, that was the first thing I tried.

Do you have a FireWire drive to try? Or burn the image to a cd? Have you looked at the diagnostic lights? If you search you can find the service manual for the 1,1 and follow the troubleshooting suggestions. At this point it sounds like the AHT probably won’t help you, if you can’t boot anything at all.
