Ok, so my 5 year old Canon Powershot S230 finally died so I need a replacement.

Firstly, let me say that I own a Digital Rebel XT which is my primary camera, so I 'm looking for something to be my "spur of the moment" pocket camera. Thus, I have two requirements

1) Small
2) Relatively cheap (say < $200-250)

Any recommendations?

My thread from September may have some useful information, but I'm sure more cameras have been released since then. Specifically the FX-30 has been updated to the FX-33.

I like my Canon A710, and the A720 was a nice upgrade for it. Nice camera, small but powerful enough for a power user!

i'd say go for one of the compact powershot's by cannon. i have the SD600, couple of years old now? and it works great and is tiny. i'm sure their newer offerings are a bit better too. find one that works for your price

I think you mean PnS, point and shoot... Or what does PoS mean? All I can think of is point of sale. Anyway

I pretty much like the Canon Ixus and Powershot series (persoanlly, I have a Canon DSLR, and an Ixus spare)

I would say, stay away from konica minolta as they are quite.. Not good.

If budget is no problem, just get the lastest ixus, or the powershot G9 if you are in for a more advanced experience

^ I can think of "Piece of Sh*t" ;)

Anywho, the Canon PowerShot A570IS 7.1MP is a top seller, only $150, and it has Image Stabilization (Optical I believe).

Canon Elph Series

I have a Canon PowerShot SD600. Ofcourse, it's an old model (bought in 2006) but it's a great little camera. Beautiful large LCD screen, and pocket size. It's 6.0 mega pixels and I love this camera. I think I paid about $300 for it....

I vote for the Elph series... you should check it out since you've had success with Canon before!
