Looking for program to design posters

Hi MacRumors,

I'm not sure whether i'm writing the right place, but I need some help.

I'm looking for a program where I can design posters and that kind og stuff.

I am both looking for free ones and paid ones (but not too expensive).

Sounds odd, but Pages (Apple's iWork software) has some really good sample poster designs. They're obviously basic, but you might find something.

Otherwise, try a good old Google Search for sample poster templates, you never know what might turn up =]

What type of posters? Would you be using photos, illustrations, or both? There is so much that can go into something like a poster.

I would say InDesign is probably your best bet when it comes to layout, typesetting, and print. You can easily import pictures and all that fun stuff.

When I make a poster for a client, I usually end up using a mix of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Although the bundle is not the cheapest you are going to find, it will handle just about anything you are trying to do.

I can't help you with free programs as I have not used freebies in a long time

If money is an object, than you can buy InDesign as a standalone program and you will be able to accomplish your basic poster design within it.

Virtually any software that can be used to create and edit a printable document can be used to create a poster. You need a large-format printer and print driver.

A poster is just ink [or toner] on paper. The design is within you and your skills. The application is just a way to get the design from your head onto paper. No application can design a poster for you if you lack the skills. Any application that can be used to design the post will be allow it to be printed. Your File/Page Setup... dialog box establishes the geometric size of your document.

When asked what kind of posters did you want to design, you responded by saying "posters and flyers." This is not useful information. The question was about your content. A poster may be a 'NO HUNTING" sign or a full-color ad for a calico kittens and border collie puppies. In the former case, Text Edit is more than adequate. In the latter, Photoshop and/or Indesign can be used.

I think you can use an online graphics editor on google. Sort of an illustrator googleapp

I want to make a poster from a single image, that will be separated in the printout in several A4 pages, so that I will collate them to compose the whole image.
Any application to do it?
