Hi,

Looking for software that will scan for all photos on a drive and copy them to a destination folder. Mac or windows.

I want to back up a few drives.

Thank you,

Jason

I am unsure about scanning just photos and copying them.

I think my data recovery software may do that, but you have to select which files to copy, you can't say just photos.

Why not just use a back up software. Time Machine will make a back up, I like CCC as it can also make bootable clones, but it could be used as a simple back up app.

wouldnt the stock apple photos app do that? Basically create a new empty photo library. drag all of your folders on the drive onto apple photos. when you've done them all and gave it a few mins to sort it out. then go to apple photos, preferences, library, show in finder. right click on the library file and package contents, and find the folder originals. the only faff is that they will be that folder in random (to me) folders of a few gigs each but it'll take you a minute just to open each folder, select all and drop into the parent folder.

The first thing I thought of was the macOS Finder…navigate to the source drive, Command-F gets you a search window, "Kind" is "Image", let the search finish, select all, then drag them to the destination drive or select all and copy them then paste to the destination drive.
