The posters goal is to be incredibly simple and provide very little information. I want it to catch someones eye and make them curious about it. The poster is for a high end fashion event and these posters will be placed around town in 11x17" posters. I will be creating a second poster with a lot more info on the event at a later date, but only by adding those to this style of a poster.
So I'm just looking for feedback/input. Good or bad i'd love to hear it :)

This is the one I'm leaning towards right now, but i still think its missing something. Only thing i might be concerned about is weight, or lack of, to the font..

I'm a minimalist at heart, but there is absolutely nothing here that says "look at me," "stay tuned," or anything that is going to make me watch for the second series of posters.

So forget the font, I honestly believe you have bigger issues. You need some sort of teaser to make people want to know more. What you want is a reaction somewhere a notch or two below "WTF?" that will make people hunt this down on the internet or at least stop and try and figure out what is going on. The shade of purple ain't going to do that.

I am going to have to agree with SuperCachetes.

As it is right now there is nothing that will grab a casual passerby.

There is nothing there to even make you think more is on the way…

It just looks like any piece of Department store promotion.

Needs work.

Sorry.

I can kind of see that now. There isnt enough contrast in it at all. And the white on purple just blends in to much.

Ya, something bold, out there, and daring. I need a much bolder font with a decent weight to it. And most of all, i need to ditch the light purple and white i think.
Thank you for your help!

No you're right. After sleeping on it and looking at it again i notice all these things that people are saying. Im going to start from scratch i think and come up with something that is more unique and out there.
Thanks for the feedback!

Glad to help. I have made a poster or two in my time. ;)

To be clear, it does not necessarily need to be bold, or daring - and it has little to do with font or color, specifically. IMHO you need a graphic that interests people first and foremost. It could be bold, or not. It could be enigmatic. Or clever. Or just so pretty that people are drawn to it.

Your purple motif isn't ugly; it just isn't interesting. If you want to catch people's eyes, you need something.

You could allude to fashion without actually revealing anything. What about a white silhouette of a large high heel shoe in the middle of the poster? (Not trying to generalize fashion here, but a women's runway show was the first thing that came to mind). Just thinking out loud...
