My network consists of the following:

Comcast cable modem > Vonage modem > Airport Extreme > Airport Express X2 (Bedroom/Downstairs)

The Airport Extreme is set to bridge mode, both Expresses are on extend mode and all have the same network SSID; WPA2 encryption. The Airport Express (Bedroom) is plugged in a wall about 15feet from my bed; directly behind that wall in the next room sits my Airport Extreme on my desk; directly below my bed, on the lower floor is the other Airport Express.

The only thing I think I should add is that I have an expandable cordless phone setup; one phone (extension) in my room next to my bed, one phone (base station) in my office near the Airport Extreme, and one phone (extension) in my kitchen downstairs. I have the Panasonic KX-TG6413T, the phones are supposedly operate on a 1.9GHz frequency.

Please see the attached file for the readings I see via the Airport Utility. It appears that my signal is pretty weak, I think. Also my MBP is connected at a lower signal yet much higher rate than my iPad when I have them both with me together sitting on my bed. Curious to see how bad this looks relative to what is considered "normal"

I've been noticing that my WiFi connectivity on my iPad has been a little flaky. I was in an area with several hot spots, when looking to connect via the settings interface the hotspot will appear to have full signal..when I connect it started at full and then dropped to one bar. Yesterday I was on my bed, about 15ft from my Airport Express and had only 1 bar. I disconnected and reconnected to the network and it was full bars. When I looked at the connections via the Airport utility, my MBP which I had next to me as well, was connected at a lower signal (-48) yet higher rate (130) than my iPad Signal (-58) and rate (39).

Any thoughts, how bad is it?

Thanks,

Marc

I have had zero issues with WiFi, in fact I always have full bars. I was using Apple Airport Extreme ,(before the iPad), and switched to Road Runner Lightning, so if you are having issues, maybe its the Airport Extreme. My SMC Router/modem combo as provided by Bright House Cable is screamin fast, and my iPad has no problemo's:cool:

When I had both my iPad and MBP on my bed I looked at the connections via the Airport utility, my MBP which I had next to me as well, was connected at a lower signal (-48) yet higher rate (130) than my iPad Signal (-58) and rate (39).

Something does not seem right here and clearly full bars don't tell you the who story of what is going on; my iPad is connected at a 1/3 the rate of my MBP.
