Okay, so here is what I'm trying to accomplish: I want to take a logo that has a red background and gray lettering (very simple logo, literally just the name of the company in a rectangular red box) and remove the red background and turn the text from gray to black. So, basically I just want to end up with the words and a white background. I cannot imagine this is overly complicated using Photoshop, nonetheless, my attempts thus far have been unsuccessful.

So I was wondering if anyone could please help me out with this task. I have tried numerous tutorials online and so far, have been completely unsuccessful. I do not know what the problem is, but I just can't get it to work.

If anyone could please either post how this can be accomplished or else a link to a tutorial that is very simple to follow, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Can you post the logo?

If there was a hard transition between the colors this would be very easy (Any of magic wand, quick selection, color selection, etc, erase, invert paint black). If your copy of the image has anti-aliasing, it gets much uglier.

There is a website with vector logos of many companies, can you get a vector copy to start from?

rule number one of photoshop club is we don't talk about photoshop club
rule number two of photoshop club is do not use it to create logos
rule number three of photoshop club is use illustrator to create logos

I started study of graphic design and graduated in 2002 (I loved photoshop 7 it was so wow)

At the start I was afraid of illustrator so would always fall back to photoshop to do my work, big mistake, once I got the hang of the pen tool and using text my whole world changed. As they said post it and we can all see what you are talking about, if it is only text you want left over why not just retype it in illustrator and save it as a vector image?

1. use the paint bucket in your preferred shade and click on each letter.
2. use the magic wand tool, click the red, and press delete.
3.????
4. PROFIT!!!
