Looking more and more likely iOS 5 has 'peaked'?

Just thinking, iOS 4 got to all the way to version 4.3.5 ... yet iOS 5 is only at 5.1 and has added very little new features, possibly due to it being the most 'complete' release of iOS yet.

With WWDC just a month away, we're probably going to see the first peak of iOS 6.

Does anyone really expect an iOS 5.2, and if so what can it really bring to iOS 5 given that iOS 6 is being heavily worked on and prepped for it's first public showing?

Nah, I don't see a 5.2 in the works. But why would they? 4.1 was a like the 5.1 update, 4.2.1 was basically for the iPad only and 4.3 added like.... 3 more things? I'd rather see the first peak at iOS 6:)

WWDC could announce/previe 5.2 just as easily as 6.0

Doubtful. Look at their history so far, and also take into account that Apple has said they're going to move to a yearly release for both OS X just like they do for iOS. I don't see them moving away from that.. especially if iOS 6 is going to be as big as people think. And it makes sense to have a huge iOS upgrade this year to match the new iPhone.
My money is on iOS6 previewed at WWDC with beta release to developers right away or shortly after, and full release later in the year.
 
There's always bug fixes and refinements to be made. I'm sure they could fit in a 5.2 update before iOS 6 is released in October.

hmm i think they'll go with 5.1.1 for bug fixes, they've never release a .x after a full new version was announced.
 
There are definitely improvements that can be made to IOS. I hope we do see a peak, or even a beta on IOS 6.
 
Nah. I think it's going to be iOS6 with integration between Macs and iOS devices via iCloud. At the moment, Macs feel behind the curve with iCloud integration. Mountain Lion will upgrade on one side, iOS6 should (??) bring a parallel... at least one can hope!

I'm going to go with iOS 5.5 -- I haven't really even seen an iOS 6 rumor, listing in web browser logs or any such info that preceded both iOS 4 and iOS 5.

So I'll guess at iOS 5.5 being either launched or previewed at WWDC.
 
iOS 5 (for me) has been a pretty big let down. I can't wait until iOS 6 or whatever major iOS developments they potentially preview at WWDC. There has been a lack of any iOS 6 speculation/rumors.
 
I've only been using iOS for a while now, however I am a little disappointed. When I look what the new Samsung is doing, I always expected Apple would get there first with some of the features (such as the phone seeing you are reading, so doesn't auto dim).

I'd like to see an iOS6 to "refresh" the iPhone in June, personally.
 
I would have to agree with the above poster. I had two Androids before I moved to iPhone. And, when I did make the move, the iPhone4 was still on the iOS 4.x. I couldn't believe the absence of capabilities on the iPhone - at that time - compared to the Android system.

However, when 5.0 came out, IMO iPhone not only caught up, but moved ahead. Many of the features in iOS 5.+ have yet to appear, with some part of Android's latest Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) operating system, from what I've read. ICS has been promised for more than a year and is only now, ever so slowly, being rolled out device-by-device and carrier-by-carrier.

I gave up watching that video after 5 seconds due to the God awful subtitles that are someones pretty dire attempt at humour. This thread isn't going to be turned into another Android vs iOS debate, because it'll just be locked, but leave the videos created by Android fanboys (would have to be an Android fanboy to make a video mocking Apple and it's own fanboys) aside.

There are obvious features from both Android and the Jailbreak community that Apple implemented into iOS 5, but discuss them in a mature way, not with stupid videos like the above link. That stuff is just embarrassing.

Or iOS 6 is going to be major and that's why we haven't seen anything yet.
