I'm looking to buy a macbook air but I'm worried that it is fragile since I travel a lot. Should I look for something else or should I not be worried?

It's made of metal. Unless you plan on throwing it around (or, god forbid, letting baggage "handlers" throw it around), you don't have anything to worry about.

Just as durable as a MacBook or MacBook Pro, but they're lighter weight. If anything more durable as the weight thrown around has less momentum. Ha ha.

I travel with mine once per week. Keep it in a designer bag not really even meant for a laptop. I never worry about breaking it, but I am always worried about theft as it's over a $3k investment.

Base price is $2499. Have you never calculated for tax, software, and etc. Mine was over $3000 at the Apple Store alone, with everything.

$2499 MBA
$200 tax
$249 AppleCare
$49 iWork
$79 Apple Wireless Keyboard

I also bought some accessories, a drive and etc. The total here is over $3k, and that is NORMAL purchases.

You never buy anything and have to pay taxes and etc? Pretty common here.

Don't worry

I wouldn't worry about the MBA breaking, it's a solid machine. If you get your self a decent sleeve you'll be fine, and then if you're still worried get yourself a laptop bag to put it in.

It'll probably help if you're careful with it as well.

If you travel, I would look into a hard shelled laptop bag. The MBA is a tough little machine, but a drop on the corner will leave a dent.
