:confused: Looking at 120gb or 160gb upgrades.
- First time owning a macbook (CD not C2D) so can u tell me what i need?
- I am confused between SATA, Ultra ATA, IDE ATA whatver... arghh lolz

Right...you need a 2.5" inch SATA drive. IDE/ATA/PATA are all the same thing and won't work in the MacBook.

I've always been a fan of Seagate drives and their five-year warranty...best in the business. People have also been having good luck with the new Hitachi 5K160.

I'll second that! Gotta go with the company that has the cajones to put a 5-year warranty on their products, when the competition only puts a 1-year!

I was initially disappointed to see that my MBP came with the Hitachi 160GB HD - but I've since been impressed with its speed, and virtually silent operation, which is similar to the 120GB Seagate I was using in my TiBook!

As an eariler post stated, you need a SATA drive in either a MB or MBP.
