I use an iPod Nano at the gym but I find the battery life to be less than stellar. I also want to start using Apple Music at the gym. I don't want to use my phone while working out. So the answer is an iPod Touch right?

My question is why is the touch still so expensive? I mean you can get an iPhone SE for pretty much the same price (when there's a decent sale). Why haven't they updated the base storage? I mean every other iDevice now starts at 32 except for the iPod. You would think they would want the iPod to have more storage to accommodate large music collections.

Is this :apple: way a slowly weening us off the iPod?

I know they will eventually drop the 16GB model, only a matter of time one would think. I'd like to grab a 32GB at minimum but they are $299 up here in Canada.

Plus I find it strange that we rarely (if ever) see sales on iPods. iPads regularly go on sale, and Macbooks too.

Maybe I just needed a venue to vent before plucking down $300 on an iPod :)

Phones, tablets and macs go on sale whenever a new model is released. The iPod touch been exactly the same at least The he last 5 years, and nobody is expecting any new iPods at all in the future,so as long as it sell,at present price,Apple will continue selling it.

I would not spend $300.00 for an iPod, when the SE is significantly can essentially provide you with a stronger battery and will retain value better over an iPod.

Also, the 6th Generation iPod Touch is overpowered and has Abysmal battery life. I owned one and was not happy with it. I sold it and purchased the SE, better decision overall. I don't foresee Apple updating the iPod any further. Not when they hardly invest any updates with it and the iPhone has ultimately consumed the iPod.

I agree 100% with you. I honestly got a 32GB SE cheaper than a 32GB Touch (a friend actually got me one from the US on a sale for $199 USD and the unlock was pretty cheap). The only reason I don't want to use the SE is because I want something as small as possible for the gym. Maybe I should just stick to my Nano.

Very true. The iPod has the advantage of being very thin and light, ideal for portability. The SE is small, but it's not light with a much larger battery and significantly thicker.

I would Also Watch for sales with the iPod Touch, it frequently is on sale and most retailers price match today.

I did the same. I had an iPod Touch 6th Gen and the battery life stunk. So I sold it and bought a refurbished SE for just a little more than what I sold the touch for and I am extremely happy with it!

If you're looking for a cheaper (essentially new, with warranty) iPod touch, check Apple's refurbished website. https://www.apple.com/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod

I do hope they release a new one sometime soon, but for now we have that. I use a 64 GB 6th gen touch daily as my iPod/phone/internet device, and I love it, but a new one with live photos, slightly better battery, and Touch ID would be great. :p

I'm in Canada and we only have 5th gen versions on the refurb site :(

They alternate what's available pretty often, since people buy and the add new ones all the time. Keep checking back if you want to see what's available at any point. :)

I actually don't think they've ever been offered in Canada. There's ample on apple.com at the moment.

Why not ask the mods to place this thread in the iPod Touch section - rather than the iPod section - of the forums, as you are discussing - and seeking advice on - iPod Touches (and other iPods)?
