Other Looking to buy older iPhone which to get 7 or 8?

So were looking to get an older iPhone out of contract that will hopefully last a couple years until a next gen release. We had an iPhone 6 that finally gave out. We’re looking to get something a bit newer maybe the 7/8/8 plus. The iPhone 6 got the job done for us but they are pretty ancient at this point and we had issues with the touch screen.

Which model do you guys recommend that is the most durable and I guess best for the money?

I would go for the 8+. Although the 8 is nice, the Plus series is always the better option since they're historically slightly better. The extra gb of RAM, the better display, the higher battery life, dual cameras w/ OIS are just worth worth the purchase.

Given the choices and requirements to be most durable, best for the money and you only want to keep it a couple years tops, a refurbished 7 straight from Apple would likely get the job done the cheapest.

All these phones are durable, but if you’re concerned about the ‘durability factor’ altogether, then I would avoid the 8, because that is an all glass design, which would be more ‘Fragile’. I would consider the iPhone 7, it uses the aluminum chassis, the A10 fusion processor is still very much relevant, it has the water resistance rating, stereo speakers and the dual camera if you opt for the Plus version.

I'm still using my 7 that I bought a couple weeks after they were introduced. I have no complaints whatsoever about it, it runs all of the apps that I need just fine, the camera is great, and I still get a full day out of the battery after 2-1/2 years of use. Once the battery starts wearing out I will have it replaced and keep on using this phone, it's one of the best that Apple has ever made in my opinion.

I'd go for the iPhone 8 Plus without a second thought. Going from the 6 to the 7/7 Plus, you won't see a huge improvement besides speed. The design is practically the same as the 6 (i.e ugly antenna bands). With the 8-8 Plus, not only will you see an aesthetic difference/improvement (in my opinion much more elegant), you'll also see more tangible improvement where as the 7/7 Plus doesn't have them or where it isn't as good as the 8/ 8 Plus like wireless charging, a True Tone display, Bluetooth 5.0, better stereo speakers, better camera and so on. If you're worried about durability being that the 8 has a glass back, slap on a case. I suspect you already use one and if that's the case (no pun intended), you won't have anything to worry about. One last thing, the base 7 comes with 32GB of storage while the base 8 comes with 64GB. Finally seeing that the price difference is small especially if you get it from your carrier, than it should be a no brainer.
