1. I want to remove the lock screen background on my clock. (So its just the clock on top of my wallpaper)
2. I want a more simplistic lockscreen slider, can anyone recommend one?
3. I want a wooden dock for my homescreen apps

Is all that achievable via SSH?^^^

I feel like winterboard should only be needed if I plan on doing major themeing (which I do not) and it only drains battery life.

I would like to approach theme changes in the most simple and minimal way possible.

Should I just use winterboard?

I have always used winter board and I really don't see that big of an issue with battery an stuff. Ya it obviously makes the phone process more but I use my phone frequently thought the day and I still manage to make it a full day. And the things you want would be sooooo easy with winterboard.
And what phone do you have? My favorite lockscreen slider and package is glasklart, and then use no lock bars to help clean it up

iPhone 5. Any help finding a wood dock? I can't seem to find one...

I am not coming up with one off the top of my head but go into cydia and search for wood/wooden or something like that or google is always a friend

All of that is possible without Winterboard but it will take some work. Checkout this thread for some docks (including some wooden ones): https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1114413/

I tend to stay away from winterboard as I run a lot of tweaks/themes and I do notice the difference, but if that's all that you're theming I would just use winterboard as its minimal and would be much easier. Here is a link that is great for phone theming without winterboard

That's what I've come up with so far without winterboard :D
