Ok I'm looking in the refurb store for an iMac. I'm looking to get a small business loan and this Mac will be used for all my eBay stuff so I don't need anything over the top but want something that will last me at least 2 years. I'd really love to get a 24" one but don't see them for under $1000(On here or other sites I've seen them that low).

I want to try out that GarageSale app too for better organization as it will keep better track of all my fees and such.

The two iMacs are pretty much same besides the hard drive and video card. I think a 250gb will be enough to store all my ebay pictures and logs for receipts, etc. What's the difference between the video cards? Thanks.

Here's the 2 models I'm looking at.

i agree it will.

I was just browsing. I can't decide to get one of these refurbished ones for 999 or get one of the new ones coming out soon.

I mean it is tuesday after all isn't it :)

Those go quick. They are both gone! :(

Oh well I saw the same $999 there the other day so I'm sure there will be another one there like it again.

There is one that's 1,299.99 but it has 2gb of memory. Same specs otherwise as #2 on my list.
Come on Apple, $250 for 1gb of memory! Shame on you LOL.

I am new to owning an apple but have been using computers all my life
I got a 20" model from the Apple Store on Mon Feb 9th and received it on Weds the 11th (paid an extra $38 to rush ship it)
I bought basically the bottom one you got but mine has 2GB of ram

Use the Apple store, because teh other sites dont have good reputations (look at the Buying guides thread on here to see what i mean)

getting back, i dont think the 24" vs 20" matters because you are paying around $200-$300 for going up 4".
The memory is the only thing that concerned me, and since you are only using this for surfing teh web (ebay) and not video editing either of these iMacs should be fine.....................if you dont need a monitor even a Mac mini might be good for you. I was loooking to buy a refurbished on apples site and they dont sell new or refurbished iMac 24" with only 1GB of ram. Maybe other non apple sites. But once again from what i read here on those other sites everything is a hassle, even "good" one like Mac Mall.

that was literally listed for less than 2 hours. i watched it upload and go.

Also check out www.crucial.com for more ram. Cheap.

i'm really hoping that the new imacs are announced by march 3. i need a computer. i'm thinking about getting a powerbook if nothing is announced by the 3rd and then just saving. use that for my listening/movie/net surfing needs.

one of the 17" just popped up for 700. not bad for what you were saying you needed.

I just bought one of the 20" models (the $1049 upgraded mid-2007 model, the $999 model is the entry current 2008 model). I had wanted a 24" all along and decided to return it for the 24" 2.4GHz (2007), and added my own 4GB of memory. However, for what you are doing the $999 model should be just fine, or even the $949 (base 2007) model that is there sometimes. For what you are doing, a white Intel model would also be fine, but they have a 2GB memory limit I believe.

Going up 4" doesn't sound like much until you consider that this spec refers to 4 additional inches in the diagonal direction. In terms of viewing area, going from a 20" display to a 24" display is an increase of 44%. That's quite a large increase in viewable real estate for just a few additional $$.

Just a slight correction: the white iMacs have a 3GB RAM limit...

if you are worried about the hard drive size at all don't forget you can always buy an external hard drive for a decent price
