Is there any way to send it to my Photos app on my iPad Pro via Air Drop from my Macbook Pro? I'm rather stunned that this doesn't seem possible. I can send an individual image, but not folders with subfolders. Surely there must be a way?

The better way is to install third party file manager and send via USB or sth. No matter how power iPad is, it is still a tablet and not a full fledged computer.

You could drop the top folder into the iCloud Drive and then access them in the Files app but you need to be able to support that 30GB I suppose. As much as I dig Apple I can't for the life of me imagine why they only give you 5GB of storage free when just about everyone else hands out four times that. The upside is 200GB is only like $3/month or something.

If you have the 2018 iPad Pro:
1) USB cable which supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 10Gbps transfer speed
2) an app that supports iTunes file sharing like GoodReader etc.

You could wait for ios 13 and see what happens. Hope you won't need to cut and paste to
complete your project!

10Gbps / 8 = 1.25GB/s
30 / 1.25 = 24 secs.

Even if you factor in the overheads and give some discount to the speed is not going to take a long time.

So glad to have all my art files unfoldered in a pdf reader. Awesome.
